Stopped in at Yesterdog yesterday before heading back to Chicago. I believe one ad had them billed as the best chili dogs anywhere. I don't know if they are the best anywhere, but they are the best that I've had. The finely chopped pickle placed on top of the ketchup mustard chili and cheese made the dog for me.

I'll definitely be heading back there in early August after I catch the Springsteen show in Grand Rapids.

Hey Saps... I just live a few miles east of there and try to hit Yesterdog atleast once a week... As for the ketchup deal, seems every dog place around here serves them that way... But as mentioned above, it does blend in well with the chili.. Then there's always the polite "hold the ketchup" which can wreak some havoc on some delicate minds...

I really dont know about thos nasty dogs they sell at Yesterdog. I work real close to the new Hritz Koney Island at 64 Ionia downtown GR and I just happen to have a pic of both the Yesterdog dog and the Hritz's Koney SIDE BY SIDE. Big Freakin difference! You want a Koney that rocks get a Hritz. What's better they are right off of 131 the downtown exit. Hritz Koney a TRUE ROAD FOOD. I will find a way to post it here and then you will know the truth.

Both dogs were ordered to go and picked up at the same time. This is what I got. I did nothing but take them out of thier containers.
          Hritz Koney Island ROCKS

Well, Hritz.. I have to say one thing... Do the taste test. I've yet to sample your dogs, but my buddy Mark that ate there said the chili was over "chili powdered seasoned, as he said".. Being a chili dog fanatic that was enough to keep me from walking thru the doors.. I prefer something an honest home made chili...

Secondly, if your going to be fair on your pictures, why did you bring a wrapped dog back to your place to take the picture? Quite obvious if you look at the pics. Considering Yesterdog dont serve their dogs on plates.

And finally, for the third part, If the dogs at Hritz are so good, why do they have to run a side business from within? (3DU)??

You claim it to be Roadfood... Maybe down the road, but aproaching this forum to advertise a business like that, especially being in business less then a year wont work...

By the way, Welcome to Roadfood!

                Hi,
Did anybody find out what kind of dog Yesterdog was using? They look pretty good. But like Vic said, its all in the taste test.

I know you are thinking that I am a Hritz. but I am not. I just work downtown and I have had both the Yesterdog and the Hritz Koneys dogs. I also believe the Hritz Koney Island should get some honarable mentions

To much chilli powder? Don't know about that. I guess the point Im trying to make is that as far as to go food.. look at the pics.

As far as taste. In my honest opinion The Hritz Koney blows yesterdog out of the water...

Yesterdog is sloppy...all my toppings are just tossed on and I cant taste the relish from the cheese. Why because yesterdog makes 20 of them it a time. Appearence and taste are important to me. I'd rather eat a dog in store or togo that didn't look and taste as if someone threw up on my hot dog buns. I really believe that the only reason yesterdog gets good write ups is because 90% of the people that eat there are so drunk they don't know good from bad.

That said the Hritz wins my vote.

I don't know why they have that 3DU business in thier store. But I checked em out and the 3d Crystals are pretty cool, a little pricy maybe, but still pretty cool. Heck I might even get one of my kid.

Ya, sorry if I was a bit harsh with ya. But ya dogged my local dog haunt! But in the picture, you can tell the yesterdog was man handled in it's wrapper. And the Hritz was never wrapped... Unfair comparison by far. But welcome to Roadfood! And ya, them 3d crystals are pretty cool! ( http://www.3ducrystals.com/ )...

Oh, and considering you have nothing to do with Hritz's, why would your picture be on their website: http://www.3ducrystals.com/images/yesterdaydogvhkoney.jpg

You'd better look again! I can plainly see the entire menu of dogs listed right in the center of this page that the link takes you to.

Yestergog, Ultradog, Cheddardog, Krautdog, Veggie & Killerdog. They're all right there.
