Your 'guilty pleasure' burger?

I'm bringing this topic up because I went to Red Robin last night. I hadn't been in a while, mostly because there are usually better places nearby, but I noticed they brought back the A.1. Peppercorn burger. This used to be my favorite Red Robin burger before they discontinued it, and ordering it again was... sinful. For those who don't know, toppings are fried onions, pepper-jack cheese, A.1. peppercorn spread, and bacon. It was great at the time, but I still feel as if I put on 400 lbs. by consuming such a burger (of course, the 22 oz. Blue Moon and the fries probably didn't help.) With all that said, then, what's been your 'guilty pleasure' burger, aka some concoction that, while delicious, shouts "gluttony"? On a sidenote, my brother's smoking up a mess o'ribs for dinner tonight... at 23, I think I'll die of a heart attack at 30.

Janet's Diner in Dillsboro, IN used to have a Bleu Cheese stuffed bacon burger. A thick burger, stuffed with bleu cheese, fired up on the flat top, topped with bacon & 3 fried onion rings. You bit into the thing and it ooozed all over but man o man was it good.

Mine is a burger made from beef from a rib eye roast that I ground at home...Before grilling, the patty is brushed with Creole mustard and coated with coarsely ground black peppercorns...Homemade bun, split, buttered and grilled...My own chicken liver pate' spread on one side of the bun....An indulgence that I can't let myself have very often....But,it's sooooo good !

That would do it for me. This thread made me think that I don't, now, have one guilty pleasure burger, but I do remember the first burger I had that was so decadent I realized I'd better not order it much. Back when I was about 23 there was a hole-in-the-wall Jackson Hole on Columbus Avenue (NYC) in the upper 80s. This isn't the sidewalk cafe place they later put on 86th Street. These were giant thick burgers of the type they had to cover with a stainless bowl to cook. Once I ordered a bacon blue. It wasn't stuffed, but smothered with blue cheese, almost 4 inches in diameter and over an inch thick. I think I had some lettuce, mustard and grilled onions on it. I got about half-way through and told myself if I finish this, it's gonna be a long time before I order one again.

I had something called a Garbage Burger Saturday night, at The Anthracite in Wilkes-Barre. It is a half pound of high quality ground beef, medium-rare, with bacon, cheese, mushrooms, fried onions, lettuce, tomato, raw onion, and a pickle spear, on a half roll of French bread. That was one damn good burger. Tom

I consume mass quantities of burgers every year. (It pays to own a restaurant) When I really want a guilty pleasure, I order our Barnyard Burger, 1/2 pound of hand-pattied fresh ground Iowa beef, cheese, FRIED EGG, and ham. Adjudicator, I have never tried the Ghetto Burger, but, it is definitely on my Must Eat list. Buffetbuster, I lived 10 years in Wisconsin and I agree that a butterburger is fantastic.

My hubby's fave is the A-1 burger as well... I'm not a Red Robin fan as I like thinner patties.. I haven't found em the way I like em locally... thin, crispy on the outside, dripping with grease, butter toasted bun, pickles, mayo, american cheese, with good fries and a not too thick chocolate malted please!
