Your own ATM on the truck?

I was poking around, looking for info on ATM's & what was involved in having one. I happen to come across this food truck that has its own ATM in it. Im not sure whats involved in it/maintaining one...its a cool idea.

Yikes. Using one of those ATM machines to access any account...at a food truck on the streets of NYC. Just drop your wallet after that. That must be secure.

There is a town 20 min from me (Stockton Ca.) where the thugs are running amok killing folks for their gold chains. Having even a hint of the extra cash onboard to support an ATM screams "Rob Me!" I got Square and encourage customers to use it if they need to.

you guys already have an ATM. it's called a credit card machine, Charge $3 for the transaction fee, give them the extra cash and make the $3 fee. 100 of those is a free $300 bill.    DUH.  Just don't let the cc ppl know

Those ghetto machines always do something to prompt either taking a tourists card....or spitting it back with a message to "contact you're banking institution"...which means the card is frozen. I doubt anyone would want to be in the middle of that nonsense.

Or have some joker say he is having trouble...and want you to step out and it "open the machine" Don't do that.

Wow...was just offering up something I found and thought to be unique. There's problems with everything. When carjacking was invented - everyone ran around yelling "Dont drive your car, you might have to stop at a red light, then someone will stuff a gun at your ribs and take your car!"
How many folks here heard from friends/family "Why do you want to sell hot dogs? There's no money in it, what if it rains? What if nobody comes"? And yet, people overlooked all of that negativity and made a go of it anyways.

This is why a lot of people only read the forums and dont contribute. People never stop amazing me....

take the advice from ppl who have been doing this for awhile, the last thing you need to do is be pulled away from a busy food truck to mess with a machine.  it's never about US, its about the advice we give. some good, some not so good but MEH  it is what it is

Around my area the "Square" card reader seems like a must have, if I can ever acquire a decent location.

On the other hand, sorry to be negative, but with all of the robberies of local establishments, (lots of druggies and illegals here), the ATM could turn out to be a catastrophe out on the street especially working night clubs and certain areas with the extremely easy access to Interstate 70 we have all over the entire valley where we are located." />

you would need to carry a firearm, b/c you would need to stock it and have lots of cash on hand... and think twice about firearms.

About a decade ago, I created a proposal which would allow retailers to create virtual ATM's from their cash registers, including charging a fee. It was turned down because of the requirement for retailers to have far too much cash in their registers. These days, cash supplies can be problematic to smaller retailers, due to the preponderance of the use of plastic.

The whole ATM thing goes from carrying minimal cash to carrying maximum cash.
Ever see them videos of thugs backing their truck up to an ATM and yanking it outta the wall? You're on wheels!!!! Why not just follow you home, or hi-jack you?
