Your silly pets

I looked down from the balcony to see what Daisy was up to. Seems that she planted herself in the 6" X 24" planter.

Should of given her a different name.  

So is that corner of the patio now known as Dogpatch?

As most of you know, we have two Scotties. 
  
     McDuff (Duffy) is now 8 years old and is very definitely an AKC Scottish Terrier, in appearance and in personality. Duff really suffers in the summer heat. He lives for the colder seasons, sleeping near a floor A/C duct during his Summer naps (often). 
 
Demi, now 7 years old, and an adoption/Rescue Scottie from Kansas City, is very definitely the Alpha Dog of this pair. She communicates her desires to Duff, and he obeys, often without any audible communication at all.  Demi is a warm-weather lover. She lays out on the deck for hours at a time in the hot weather, soaking up the sun like a SoCal Teenager. During the colder months she will go out, but her fur is a snow magnet and she takes forever to 'melt' after she comes in from playing in winter.
 
The differences can be illustrated...
Here is Demi- Doing her 'fishing' for goldfish in 'her' pool. Duff can watch, but if he jumps in she will drive him out ASAP. Notice her head under water as she searches for the little gold fish.

 
 
McDuff prefers  rolling in the snow in the colder weather, while Demi watches from a window (near a heat duct inside) !!

 
Yeah our dogs do odd things...but they are part of the family !!
 

Awwww.......I miss McDuff and Demi!!

Since my Mom is now in a home, I inherited her cat that I got her as a kitten about 3 years ago.  I call her the "Circus Kitty" because she will chase her tail, chase a milk ring and just about everything else.  She's a constant source of entertainment.  Her name is Bella which in Italian is "beautiful" and she's a tortoise shell cat and indeed VERY beautiful!

I wish we could bring them with us to Missouri next month, but the rules of the ranch say (in Bold Print) NO PETS !  So they  will stay home with a neigbor caring for them.

I miss my kitty.  Lisa, your mother was lucky to have Bella and you and now it's your turn to love Miss Bella.
 
My corgis are polar opposites as well.  They don't even like each other much.
 
Last year when we were in Texas, we bought them the same pool for the patio.  Neither would get into it.  If placed into the pool it was a race to see which would get out first.  They just stood there looking at us for permission.

Before we got our Scotties, we had Wolfus, The Wonder Dog. He was an amazing Terrier-mutt that looked (as a puppy) just like your twin pets.  I have never had a dog the equal of Wolfus, he was the most loyal and loving dog I have ever known. Your photo brought back a flood of good pet memories for me. Thank You.

In my previous post, I mentioned that Demi is a real SNOW MAGNET. This is an example of how she attracts (and keeps) winter with her whereever she goes.

I can attest to the characters of Al's dogs. Demi is definately the alpha-but as sweet as can be. Duff is Al's dog-hangs out with him on the arm of his chair.Demi fell in love with my Bob while we were on a visit-never left him. But Duffy and i had our private moments on their deck....

I can see the resemblance Al.  My girls are 3/4 Yorkie and 1/4 Maltese.  And they do not like water at all.  

Wolfus loved to go "Train Chasing" with me . He learned to step on the rails to feel any vibrations from an approaching train, then look both ways to see which direction it was coming from...then barked a warning to me.  He would then run to my truck and sit in the shade while the train passed....with a smug "I told you so" look on his face.

And then poised on the rail looking for the coming train...  Note- fairly steep upgrade, train speed under 30 mph uphill and 40 mph downhill. Dog was NOT in danger at any time.
