A PA Dutch Tradition has closed. It was always a great stop for Shoo Fly pie after a day of antique shopping in Ephrata. For one last look... http://www.zinnsdiner.com/

A sad day for roadfooders everywhere, another icon gone. It was one of the first places along the first limited access highway in the country - the PA Turnpike. What will become of Amos the statue?

I'm shocked to read this! Zinns is a real tradition in Pa, somehow I missed it was closing. It was one of the few "Pa Dutch" landmark restaurants in central Pa open on Sunday, too!

That's it. It's official. Human evolution has maxed-out. We are, indeed, plummeting downhill and backwards on the roller coaster of life.

I read an article that Zinn's was purchased by another eatery and will be reopening soon under a new name and management. Zinn's held a special place for me as the location I frequently used to take my first wife before we we're married; her parents living nearby. Sadly Zinn's Amish flair wasn't enough to keep the diner financially sound and better Amish styled cooking could be easily found nearby at the Akron Diner. Amos the Amish statue in from of Zinn's will be reportedly donated to a local museum and the adjacent recreation park & ball fields will be leased to the Town of Ephrata.

Does anyone know who supplied Zinn's with their shoo fly pie? I've heard it was a bakery somewhere in Lancaster. Zinn's had the best shoo fly pie and I'd like to find out where I can get it now that they're gone.

The former Zinn's Diner has been sold again the second time in three months. According to this article in the Ephrata Review http://www.ephratareview.com/articles/590.shtm the current owners Lyndon Diner of Denver, PA sold the landmark to a Greek/New Jersey native. Plans include major renovations. Amos the famous statue which stood in front of the diner had been moved to Heritage Center Museum in Lancaster, PA and not the Henry Ford Museum as previously reported.
