Zpizza

This appears to be a relatively new pizza chain. Doesn't fit the mold of the usual pizza chains.
It's today's Living Social deal (similar to groupon) - so I was wondering if anyone has been to this place, and their thoughts?

Thanks!

ZPizza isn't really new to the DC area.  I'm surprised you just heard about them.  They are one of my favorites when it comes to chain pizza places, but if you get a bad location it will ruin the whole experience.  I'm also glad that their ingredients are very natural but tasty all at the same time.

There's been a location on Windward Pkwy in Alpharetta GA for about three or four years.  (It's where many out-of-towners open their first Georgia location, most of them - Apple Spice Junction, Tacone, Tin Star, Taxi's, Logan Farms - doomed to fail inside two years.)  It is okay at best; you definitely want to get a full pie.  Those heat-lamp slices they give you for lunch specials are no better than the Pizza Hut buffet.

DC area? I wouldn't know about that. I don't visit the suburbs much except on rehearsal nights and for concerts.  But I rarely eat out there. Occasionally we'll go to Annapolis, or Old Town Alexandria for dinner, but usually for seafood, not for pizza and not for a chain. As far as I know, there's only 1 Zpizza in the District. It's relatively new.

So far, the closest pizza I've had resembling NY pizza I grew up on is at WeThePizza. They may also have the best meatball in the District, which makes for an incredibly good meatball sub.

There are other good pizza places, but I don't get over to that side of town anymore. Zpizza is downtown. I wouldn't ordinarily try chain pizza, but the Living Social deal seems to be a pretty good reason to try it.

There are 13 Z Pizza locations in the DMV area (D.C./Maryland/Northern Virginia) so that's why I didn't understand why you'd never heard of it.  But I understand if you never get out to the suburbs much, then it makes more sense, because there is only 1 new location in the District.

I used to go to one of the first Zpizzas, in Long Beach CA. They were expensive but were tasty and decent quality.
