a 12" Hot Dog! Where Can I get one?

I was playing the newest GTA 4 game the other day and I ate a hot dog from one of the vendors on the sidewalk ( game setting is in new york), And I have been craving hot dogs ever sense.

A week or so later, I went to a Cardinals game, and that had "Jumbo" hot dogs, but  were the size of like ballpark franks, and then they had a 12" Bratwurst, so I opted for the Brat,  So I kind of combined the 2 where I want a 12" hot dog with a properly fitted bun, does anyone know where I can find one of these?  Restaurant or store?  Getting out of town would be nice, but money isn't flowing out of my ears, however I am going to CA later in the month, and foot long hot dogs there?

The Kroger stores around here sell foot-longs and the buns for them.

Kroger is one of the few stores we don't have here.  When I used to livei n Paducah KY they had a Kroger there.  I may have to make a trip to Paducah :D,  Thank you for your help.  Anyone Else know of any other places?

Another dumb question from a Newbee. Hey Newbee---Get off your butt and go find them. As suggested, Google would be a good start.

I dont think it was a dumb question....I, myself, can and will google anything, but I trust the opinions of my fellow roadfooders more. Be kind, my friends.

I love CRXs. I've had 3, all 1st gen., including two si models. I've got my eye on one right now but the lady wants too much.

I always get a foot long dog from the Texas Cafe at the State Fair of Texas. They have mustard,  chopped onions, and nacho sliced jalapenos that you add yourself. I wash it down with a Shiner Back beer. Nothin better!

  Does it make you guys feel good that just wanted to cal me a "newb" and "use google", it's redundant to even go there.  This is a forum about FOOD, So I am going to ask questions about FOOD.  The "newb" suggestion is ridiculous.  I have been on message boards over 10 years now and I do my search ON THE FORUM FIRST.  If there are no answers at the forum THEN I post the question.  Now you want to call someone a "newb" for asking a question, Pull your head out of your a$$, and be polite, just because your not sitting right in front of me responding to my questions doesn't make it right to be rude.

P.S.  Yes Honda CRX's are awesome!  I had 3 of them.  I got to the point of "racing" the car around and blewn the engine up.  Then I decided I needed to grow up, so I bought a camry, and now I have a Subaru STi.  More civilized, a 4-door, and is great with hauling groceries and going 0-60 in under 4.5 seconds. :)

Vienna makes the 12" 1/4 pound dog and if you are feeling brave they have a 12" 1/2 pound dog. I am in Ca. so If you want to take some home look me up. Bombdiggity Dogs. I'm on Google (LOL)

If you're up to doing your own, National Deli sells retail packages that are actually quite good that can be found in many grocers or ordered. Both Smart and Final and Gordon Foodservice have several pack/lb sizes in reasonably smaller vacpacks and usually stock a bun to accomodate them. I don't know what the unit/lb on the National Deli is, but they are quite thick as well.

As Dawn indicated, if you want to do your own, Hebrew National is running a sale on its 3.5lb packages of jumbo franks [i.e. foot long] at $10, so $2.85/lb in many retail stores such as Wegman's in upstate NY & possibly elsewhere. Therefore, you may contact Hebrew National directly quoting this price or distributors quoting the same. This is quite a good frank, as John Fox and others can attest. Natural casing, all beef NY style. It is also pure kosher. Hope this helps.
 
P.S. These are genuinely 12 inches, not the Ball Park "jumbo" size. But please double check anyway.

What we call a "hot dog" or Frankfurter the Germans call a Würstchen. The 12" hot dogs that are made by some manufacturers in the USA are 12 X 2.54 = 30.38 centimeters long.

an odd thing, around here (washington state) we can get 12" hot dogs, but none of the local bakeries make 12" buns... zenner makes a very good 12" natural casing dog that i really like and isn't expensive, but because of the bun shortage i resort to french baguettes from safeway, which isn't bad.
