I can certainly do without the liver and I could live without the lima beans, mushrooms, and gelatin.

I would move mayo to the #1 spot.  In fact, I believe mayo should be outlawed in all 50 States

If you combine the tuna & mayo, does it move up to #1?

Cav----that's a good question.  I like 'em both and do mix 'em up together----so I am biased.

Kirsten---Lima beans are ok---make good soup and are great for scaling across rhw water in a lake because they are almost flat.

Joe----you can't go around outlawing things you don't like-----you would be compared to-----------
            answer next week.

John---u have agreed with 4 outta 10 you sound like a guy who took the pool.

The only thing on that list that I don't eat on a regular basis is liver.

Alright, I have to put my two cents worth. I agree with some of this list however there are a few that I totally don't agree with:

tuna... I love it in any form
mayo... a staple in my condiment shelf in the fridge
gelatin... the kids love it and it's great mixed with vodka and other alcohols
eggs??? the most diverse food I have ever come across barring potatoes
okra... I like them best when they are pickled with hot peppers
beets... great in soup and baby beets are great roasted with other root veggies
mushrooms... I like the flavor that they add to a dish but hate the texture so I make stock out of them and then throw away the solids

The rest of the list I agree with totally!!!

liver... worst stink I can imagine in my kitchen, hangs around for days
                    Brussels sprouts... same as above
                    lima beans... too mealy

                    JMHO

I don't agree with anything on the list except maybe Lima Beans. Can't say I don't like them just haven't bought them in a long time I don't remember.

I love liver, liverwurst, scrapple, chicken livers, liver pate,  and, about once a year I cook up a big mess of calf's liver, bacon, and onions and have a feast. I can only do that when Gail's not home for dinner because she wont eat it.

How can we make that great Summer delight, Succotash, without Lima Beans?

Plain gelatin is an essential product in our kitchen , and I still like Jello - once in a while we make a Jello salad with carrots and celery.

The fact that eggs are even on this list is proof that the survey is a fraud.

Tuna from the can (oil packed) with mayo and onion and celery is a delightful salad spread on whole wheat bread. I don't much care for fresh tuna, but it certainly does not belong on this un-favorite list.

Who can live without that whole world of mushrooms available to us now-a-days?

Who want's to go thru life without an okra-thickened Gumbo? As to eating the stuff alone, I guess it's done - I'll leave that to our Cajun friends...

Roasted beets in a salad and in other dishes are a delight I'd not want to live without.

Crispy brussels sprouts with a simple cheese sauce are wonderful - and they make a nice raw addition to a salad.

What belongs on that list? How about anything besides bread that you are told to heat up in your toaster? Packaged mixes where you "just add water"?

                        Cheers, John

I love Brussels sprouts, liver, tuna (canned), eggs and mayonnaise. I like beets and fried okra. Lima beans are OK. Mushrooms? Poisonous! At least to me. I'm allergic to them. I remember Junket and I detested that. Other gelatins? Beats me.

Quite a few things on that list I truly enjoy, like tuna, lima beans, eggs and mushrooms.  And none of them I dislike.

As near as I can tell, okra is the only thing my cousin Johnny won't eat.

                              I agree with those.

I can't stand canned/packet tuna, foul horrid nightmare.  It's like it's an entirely different food item from fresh tuna which I love dearly.
Okra - gag.  I'll eat dandelion roots before okra.
Eggs - Meh. Never cared for eggs.  I can pass on them anytime.
Lima beans - Another childhood nightmare my mother loved.
Liver - Dad loved it, so the rest of us had to endure it.  We absolutely smothered it in ketchup or A1 Steak sauce to gag it down.

The rest of the list I eat constantly.

                                For me:

                                1 -  liver
2 -  a Lime Rickey at Sonic (made using their disgusting lime syrup)
3 - Burger King french fries (essentially cardboard coated with sawdust)
4 - pizza at the Charlotte airport
                                5 - acorn squash
                                6 - Moxie
                                7 - rutabaga
                                8 - oysters
                                9 - thyme
10 - cream cheese (including all cheese cakes).

All make me gag just thinking about them.

I'm with you Seafarer, not fond of liver but everything else is fine. The problem with the list is that the items are all things that you have to MAKE something with and people are just too lazy to actually MAKE something.

I eat everything on that list on a fairly regular basis except for okra (it's not all that common around my parts).  Liver not so often, but I love, love, love it.  Brussel Sprouts are my #1 favorite green vegetable, when cooked properly (tossed in olive oil, roasted HOT until lightly charred and lightly salted).

The list of foods that I hate is short:

                                    1. Olives (but I love olive oil)
                                    2. Coconut
                                    3. Cherries in every form except fresh
                                    4. Lemongrass
                                    5. Hearts of Palm
                                    6. Cauliflower
                                    7. Stewed prunes

It really is interesting how much alike and how different we are.  I guess it is how we were raised---but, that isn't always true either.   Neighbor's kid hated Chinese food,
if we were all going to mei Ting his mother would bring an American Cheese sandwich for him.  I visited his bachelor pad with his dad, and the kitchen counter was covered with containers from the local Chinese take out joint.  His taste changed between his 10th & 24th birthdays.

But----liver still seems to be the most disliked.  I am sending all of mine to my mate SeafarerJohn so he can have a feast when his wife is away. Chow Down, John.

"There are children starving in Africa, so eat your liver!" (I don't get that one.)

------Mer52---cilantro was 18th on the list I think.  With the rest of the riff-raff.

In my family it was children starving in China. I used to point out to my mother that even a starving kid in China wouldn't eat the food she cooked.

I actually like almost everything on this list, especially brussels sprouts.  That said, I never put mayonnaise on sandwiches.

I like eggs cooked most ways except boiled (hard, soft or medium -- I can't stand them that way).

Of the things on the list, I would be least likely to eat lima beans.  I'm not crazy about "pulses" in general, although I do like lentils.  I cannot stand chickpeas in any form.  Can't touch them without feeling nauseated.

This list seems to speak to americans a) not liking vegetables and/or b) not having eaten any of those things prepared in a tasteful manner and/or c) being wimpy. Wimpy, wimpy, wimpy. What would the world be like without all of that lovely variety? Makes me glad my mom made me eat a little of everything.

That being said, everybody's got a right to not like SOMETHING. I can understand the whole "these vegetables taste like fish EYEBALLS and phlegm"-ness of okra, it's an acquired taste.

For me, it's tarragon and carrots. **shiver**

Fried okra is like manna from heaven.

That original list took me by surprise - I understood half of the items being on the list, but can't understand the rest, like eggs. What do these folks do when they go out for breakfast?

Liver is the one item I agree on - mostly a texture thing. I'm in a big city with a wealth of international food available, so I can include tongue and tripe as more meats I won't go near!

Since I'm in the South, it's a good thing I love okra. Had it stewed as whole pods once, alarmingly viscous, like something out of "Aliens", and I still liked it.

Beef tongue is divine.  Of course it helps if you grew up eating it weekly.

I haven't had it in years, but I always enjoyed thin-sliced pickled tongue sandwiches on rye with a good brown mustard.

To me, bad food is headcheese made from various pig parts including the ears..mmm, chewy.

Rabbit heats sauteed in olive oil and garlic

Tripe simmer in a spicy tomato sauce with cannelli beans
