boston cream pie leads the poll Fri, 01/9/09 7:15 PM (permalink)
I think a recount is called for.  I can not imagine Boston Cream Pie,
which is using an alias (it is not a pie at all), is beating Strawberry
Short Cake which is one of the great desserts of all time---how can
that be ?????  I think someone from Boston is loading the ballot box.

Me thinks there's dirty work afoot.

Boston Cream Pie is heaven on a plate to me. Maybe that's because it's never been all that available here on the West Coast, while, in Orange County where I lived for over 40 years, strawberries were as ubiquitous as oranges.

The first time I tried BCP, I was hooked for life.

The BCP was the least of all evils in my thinking.

I agree  I cannot imagine anyone picking that over  strawberry shortcake   or  blueberry pie  or whoopie pie................something is wrong here!

There are no cannoli in New England.

                  Guiseppe u r a good boy.

PSU just stole 3 recruits from Rutgers------their gonna vote for
Strawberry Short Cake too.  Or else.  JoPa is gettin' rough  out
in recruiting land---he wants the title before he steps down.

And you other guys who voted for BCP---Boston Cream Pie is a mensa mensa dessert----while Strawberry Shortcake is the creme de la creme.
Blueberry pie should be a close second like the Ghost said-----I worry about you guys you just don't know what good is !!!!  Betcha put ketchup on your hot dogs too.

A lot of those other choices I can get here in Pittsburgh or elsewhere.  But just try to find Indian Pudding.  What a great dessert that is!

No need to thank me for providing the following information:

The Boston Cream Pie was proclaimed the official Massachusetts State Dessert on December 12, 1996. A civics class from Norton High School sponsored the bill. The pie beat out other candidates, including the toll house cookie and Indian pudding.

Indian pudding for me, the most earthy, dark, sweet, warm New England autumn dessert I can think of.

Michael---Massachusetts has been voting for a lot of odd-ball
things and people over the years.

Indian pudding, Boston Cream Pie, Toll house cookies, Bah Humbug

Pittsburg has just gone 10 points up in my estimation for not having
BCP on the menu.  Probably because no one ordered it, a loser all the way.

I'll have another helping of Strawberry Shortcake please.

The poll asks for Opinions on NEW ENGLAND Desserts. While I like Strawberry Shortcake, It's Universal and can be had ANYWHERE in the USA.
BCP, while available in some other places, is more unique to New England so I voted for BCP!

Thank you. Other than the fact that I love BCP and, cannot get it in Dallas, is the reason I voted for it as well.

I am wondering if people know that there are different kinds of strawberry shortcake.  Growing up in New York City, it was more of an angel food cake while in New England it is served on a biscuit.  I prefer the angel food cake version than the biscuit style.
