I live in California. There used to be a steak house called Mr. Steak. They served the most delicious mushroom appetizers. They were in a batter served with a cheese sauce and topped with chives.
I have wanted to find the recipe for this dish as there are no more Mr. Steaks in our area and I STILL crave that wonderful dish from time to time! Would anyone happen to have the recipe or know where I could find it?

Where was Mr. Steak? That appetizer sounds like it would be fairly easy to duplicate at home, calijo.

MMMMMM. Mushrooms. They're not just for old hippies anymore.

Great pic but the first one was a little larger than the ones we use to get around TN

There was a Mr. Steak in Roseville, CA. I have tried to duplicate the recipe on my own, but there is just SOMETHING missing! They were made in a light batter (I believe beer batter). I have not been able to get the batter as light a coating and of course the taste is definitely not the same!

I agree. The first picture gave me flashbacks. Groovy.
