How many of you all use cash registers or just a cash box? Just curious.

We use the drawer from a cash register that we ended up with from an auction back when David was Flea Marketing. You can buy just the drawer or insert at Office Supply stores. I pulled out all the electric stuff (and the annoying bell) and lock it closed with a key. We also have a label that I made that says..." NO CASH LEFT IN DRAWER OVERNIGHT". But our cart is a little different setup than many hot dog carts. We just didn't want to hold cash in our pockets. Did that while Flea Marketing.

right now I use a cash drawer but we are going to switch to a register to help keep track of inventory, sales tax, tec.even a cheap one will work those problems out. I do believe tho it will slow us down a bit.

Hey Buck it takes a little time to get use to it and all the gliches that you have at first But the info that you can gain from it out weights the learning curve.

chef, mike, I know your right about those too! with the regester I can track the inventory easier I think too,the only thing it wont do is the throw away stuff of course,i/e the split bun, fall to the floor crap. and that new smart phone was a challenge to at first now it's not to bad, I still experiance some "will not connect to the network " I tought it was cured but got about 20 min of that again thurs. so I just did a running tab for those who were going to use it......... everyone came back and paid too. most made a special trip on there way to a smoke break.I'm going to try a Q-tip for people to do the signitures, most dont care for signitures, but those who doo it try to use the finger nail and that dont work.

I had to open for the girls one day and had to fight with the register every time I sold something. I hate all this computer stuff. I am glad I almost never have to work in my trailer. Funny story - my wife programmed our register and could not figure out why it lost the program every time she turned it off. She re-programmed it 3 times before I figured out that she put a rechargable battery in the memory backup without charging it first.
