how many from this area?? just trying to figure out who's around me,, and what do we have around us that's good to eat? maybe do a meet and greet at a good place to eat. anyone been to big daddy's fry house yet??

I live in Sumter, but work in Columbia.  We've got some pretty good places around.  A lot of chains though.  For local BBQ there is Lil Pigs (on I20 behind the Blue Cross Blue Shield building), and DOC's BBQ on Shop road.  For burgers there is Zestos, Rockaways, Rosewood dairy bar and Macs.  For broasted chicken there is Zestos, Rosewood Dairy bar, and Bernies (Bluff Road past the staduim). 

I like Miyos for freshly prepared chinese, and several of the Indian places are very good. 

No, I haven't tried Big Daddy's fry house.  Where is it located ?

Big daddy's is in west Columbia on 378. there's a write up on the state news paper website. I couldn't figure out how to post the link.

Sumter that's a pretty good drive. I did a lot of work on the base there.

I got excited when I saw the title of this thread because I live in Central, SC, a town right outside Clemson.

I don't know much about this area of the state, but I'm eager for any Columbia-area roadfood tips. I get down to the Columbia area maybe twice a year.
