charles chips - can someone explain??

I was too young to ask the right questions about this chip company. but I would always see the cans and be jealous of the other neighborhood kids because they had them delivered. what exactly was it?? A delivery service? Are they still around?
This was in Fairfield, CT

We had them delivered to our house every Saturday. We would leave the empty can, and they would drop off a fresh can. Our favorites at the time were Barbeque.

My wife used to get them delivered. Of course, that was before she became my wife. I put a stop to it immediately.

Well, actually, we moved from Connecticut to West Virginia. But I like to think Iput a stop to it.

Heck, I still got one of their tins somewhere in my parent's cavern (attic ;). All I remember is that they were really good & stayed fresh a long time because of the tin.

We used to get them delivered every week when i was a kid in Massachsetts---great chips-and the can kept them fresh and whole--although with a house full of kids with friends, they never lasted long enogh to get stale anyway.

The man who used to be called Charles Chips still comes to our place of business every other Thursday, but now he is called Mr. C's and the chips are not in cans anymore. I guess that I still have my can stored somewhere at home. I see the Charles Chips brands in some grocery stores once in awhile.

I dont think you are crazy...I remember cookies too. Of the sand tart variety.

Charles chips used to be sold in the grocery stores. I never had them delivered. We would get special holiday tins of em though.

they have been bought out by Snyder.

This is eerie. I was reading this thread and when I get to the bottom of the page, there is a google ad for BullDogTrading on Charles Chips! That is a little too personalized for my liking.

They still sell the Sand Tarts and Chocolate Chip cookies under the Mr. C name. I just bought some Sand Tarts last week. At Christmas time they have a ginger snap that is wonderful. It had enough pepper added to it to give it a bite

My daughter misses the Jello Pudding Pops also. She is always looking in the grocery store hoping that they will start making them again.

They do still sell them in bags. In the Tampa Bay area, you can buy them at ABC Liquors. Plus, you can order them over the web.

Wow, does this bring back memories. I was a Charles Chips distributor in Sacto. CA, and Stockton ,CA. for 11 years. Best business I have ever had. I went from business to business and sold C.C. products to the employees. Even the bosses were happy to see me show. Had the best snack foods around. Chips and cookies were only a part of the inventory. Jerky, pretzels, licorice and more. Some of you may remember the pretzel perfects or the mint perfects. Xmas and Easter were something to look forward to.I wish Distributor-ships were still available as they were before and the product was of the same quality. I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to sign up again.

Pretzel Perfects were my ultimate favorite. I remember, we couldn't wait for our Charles Chips man to bring the little Christmas Catalogs so that we could get pretzel perfects and peanut brittle. They also had a little cookie shaped like a Christmas tree. It was a graham cracker dipped in chocolate. They were also good.
