Hi folks. I have been using the cheese sauce on my dogs, and I dont like it. What kind of shredded cheese do you use, and where do you get it? Thanks for any input.

Mostly from Kroger(cheddar) on sale, small packages, then freeze. Pull them out as needed. I stay away from walmart brand, must be to much oil in them, cause that brand clomps up to soon. And if you put it into really cold refrig. one big glob the next day. Cannot use cheese sauce here but shredded is OK go figure.

Shredded cheese, use the finest shred you can find. cheese sauce is for fries.

Listen ,it really makes no real difference one way or another. It is a personal preference but which ever u use u should always use the best you can get. I was never a fan of wet cheese but since i tried and USE the brand i use i think it is quite tasty atop a chili dog and apparently my customers don't mind. They have a choice and have NEVER asked for shredded cheese. I did once however run out of the brand i use and was stuck with a brand i did not use and let me just tell ya something..... I threw it out!! It was disgusting. Again you get what ya pay for.

For dogs, and dogs only, I use an aerosal cheese (and not a "cheese product"). Compared to other "pure" cheeses it seems like a cop-out but that is not the case-it actually costs more than any normal cheese does ounce for ounce. The fact is it both starts and stays soft with no need to microwave a finished dog, nor to hold a dog hot enough to melt conventional cheese. To do so in our diverse menu trailer would tire out the skin on the dog way to early. The cheese is good, and fast, and protects against overheated dogs that diminish the snap that sells the dog. It sounds stupid, but aerosal cheese is just another place we spend more to prevent loss of quality, and to make sure the dogs that are only a part of our products are consistantly good.

Why would a properly made "Finished Dog" ever have to be microwaved?
