V960, shoot, I was eating the tuna cause it's low fat. Maybe just a few Lays on my sandwich then.

Cathy, who is "on The Beach" - no carbs!

that just means fried pork rinds, one of my favorite no/low carb snack foods.

They make great dipping chips for tuna or chicken salad

I love chips on sandwiches!!! I used to do it when I was a kid. The chips are too salty by themselves but when you put them on a PB&J it is delicious.

Original doritos on hard salami or bologna. And, crumbled sour cream and onion as a hot dog topping.

Try those Durkee or French's french fried onions on a lunch meat sandwich. Also good in pinto beans!

I love my peanut butter sandwich with either Doritos or cheese curls or cheese puffs (any brand). I also like the peanut butter/banana sandwich the same way. My girlfriend gets grossed out by this for some reason. Both need to be on white bread too. It just tastes better that way. I normally eat wheat or a multi-grain bread, but these have to be on white bread to taste "right".

One of my childhood favorites was a bologna and cheese on Wonderbread with Goldens Mustard. You add a pile of chips and crush it together. A great sandwich!

I like potato and even corn chips on sandwiches- not fritos, but tortilla style. Although, fritos on bologna sounds good.

I've also been known to put thin french fries on my cheeseburger.

Frito's on white bread with mustard and bologna. And then crushed. I only eat a sandwich on white bread if I've smushed it first. Never had it any other way.

Scorereader. I dismantle my hamburgers from Burger King and wrap the bun with all the lettuce, ketchup and mayo around my fries. I eat the meat separately. But only with those burgers.

Hi Everyone!
This is my very first post!
I've been reading and enjoying for a couple of months, finally brave enough to post.
I always thought I was the only one that ate thin fritos on a tuna sandwich! The only way I ever do tuna! I also love a bologna sandwich on white bread with regular lay's.
Love, love, love this site. Feel like I already know many of you just from reading your posts.

Love:
1. Roast beef on white with mayo (Best), lettuce, butter, and chips.
2. Turkey (only leftover white from a real turkey breast), mayo, butter, lettuce, cranberry sauce, and chips.
3. Beef bologna, mayo, cheese, catsup and chips.
All on white bread.

BTW, have you ever tried a salami and cheese with PBJ? It's great!

ann, This is what hubby has been doing since being diagnosed diabetic a few months ago since having the sandwich AND the Fritos would be too carb-heavy. He trades the bread carbs for Fritos carbs! As long as he still gets some Fritos with his tuna salad, he doesn't even mind it not being a sandwich.

Potato chips on Sandwiches made with white bread, Velveta style cheese, thin onion slices and lots and lots of yellow mustard.

I know, a nutrition nightmare, but a taste that is just great!

You haven't lived until you've had a purple runza with chips on top.

A purple Runza? I'm from Nebraska, so you'd think I would know...what the hell is a purple Runza? Do you mean the Swiss Mushroom one? They used to wrap those in purple. They don't anymore.

a Purple Runza, is a runza that Roossy made once. She had gotten the recipe from another poster and was very excited to make it. At some point, she decided to make an ingredient switch. She opted for red cabbage instead of regular cabbage. (leftovers from St. Patty's Day). Due to the red cabbage, the insides turned completely purple. She was kind enough to post her debacle on this site. (though, apparently, it didn't affect the taste at all) She has since made runzas that weren't purple. The error, though, has been a running joke on this board ever since. All in fun, of course. From time to time, even Roossy herself will bring it up. There's probably someone out there making purple runzas just because we now know the ingredient to make a perfectly good runza turn purple.

here's the thread where she learned about Runzas: http://www.roadfood.com/Forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6394&SearchTerms=runza

here's the infamous purple runza thread, which doesn't make reference to the odd color initially. Roossy acknowledges her mistake, but the long running joke may be because of Pwingsx's comments on how blue it looked. Roossy admits it was actually a deep purple. It doesn't actually become a running joke right away. That happened over time when the purple runza got referred to, but here is the origin: http://www.roadfood.com/Forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=11997

Oddly enough, the whole thing started in a CHILI forum. go figgur!

Thanks for clarifying Scorereader, that is very funny! As you can see, I'm new here and missed that one. How much better I feel as a Nebraskan and Runza freak knowing I didn't miss out on something I should have known...
I'm going to have to tell my mom (she can make them, I don't have the patience) about the purple cabbage. It might just be a way to get the kids to eat them!! Something funny about Runza's (sorry if off-topic) is that their recipe is "secret" and when you get hired there you have to sign a contract never to tell. As most runza recipes are quite good, it really doesn't matter. I know what that "secret" ingredient is and it is nothing special that the average person couldn't figure out - or imitate. I think their "contract" is very amusing!

I still see my very first friend; we met when we were 3 or 4 years old, and I turned 53 this week.
In elementary school, when they served hamburgers (you know, those gray, steam table hockey pucks), he would put the entire meal on the bun with the burger.
That was: bun, burger, mashed potatoes, potato chips AND the green jello.
A few years ago we had lunch together at KATZ'S, and damn if he didn't do the same thing! He piled kraut, pickles and half a knish onto a corned beef sandwich. No jello, though.
Old habits die hard, I guess.
