In my previous post, I managed to forget to mention root beer. I love a good root beer; my favorite brand is Dog n' Suds , sold at their handful of midwestern drive-ins and some supermarkets. Back in the '60s, we would visit my aunt and uncle who owned an old-fashioned general store in eastern Kentucky, and their store carried a brand of bottled chocolate drink called Choc-Ola; I seem to remember it being based somewhere in southern Indiana. As far as I know, Choc-Ola is long gone, and I sure miss it.

For a cola drink, I prefer Pepsi.

I enjoy rootbeer from A&W, Barqs, IBC, Dog & Suds and Stewarts.

I like ginger ale once in a while.

For cream soda, several brands are fine BUT the hands-down, very best, beyond the shadow of any doubt, positively best is Sprechers, brewed in Wisconsin and difficult to find in Illinois.  You become aware that it is special within a second of opening the bottle - it has a bouquet that says "This is some good cream soda."  Best served over crushed ice.

Sprechers also make an orange and cream drink that is quite good (similar to Stewart's).

Sprecher's rootbeer is good also but nothing special.

Have a good day.

Currently it is Pepsi Throwback followed by RC Cola and Coke. It's hard for me to find RC around here but I got a 2 litre bottle yesterday and have been sipping on it today.
