favorite veggie with your steak?

out at restaurants, i like to get mashed potatoes or a baked potato w/ sour cream and butter, au Gratins if i'm at Ruth'sChris, and a salad w/ double blue cheese dressing. i swear with all the salad and bread i'm full before my meal comes and i almost always take most of my steak home w/ me.
at home, i love green beans, lightly steamed till they're just bright green, w/ hollandaise.
green beans and hollandaise are my favorite snack food, too.
my recipe is easy: melt 1 stick of butter, put 3 egg yolks into a double boiler (i use two all-clad pots of the same size and just balance one on top). whisk yolks, add several tbsp. of the butter at a time, whisk, whisk and whisk some more, add more butter, repeat, etc., add white pepper and half a lemon's juice.

Other than the potato and what form it takes simply
depends on how I feel when I order; for me its creamed spinach
I guess one of the standard accompaniments which always
seems to go well with a good ribeye.

I agree with you luv, my favorite is a Sizzling Med Rare ribeye, right off the Weber, on a plate with a pile of mashed potatoes. A couple slices of butter on the Spuds and while you are eating the steak all the juices begin to flow and my dessert is to soak them up with the Spuds. Ahhh!

Howard -I am gald you mentioned the creamed spinch, love that stuff! Gotta make some this weekend, been a while, thanks!

I've been using aparagus with just about everything I've grilled lately... I just add a little fresh ground pepper, a few pats of butter and a sprinkle of water... All rolled up in aluminum foil and tossed on the grill for a few.. Tommorow I'll do the same, but I'm thinking of wrapping a slice or 2 of some bacon around it for some more flavor...

I'm pretty basic, beside my potatoe side, i'll choose either buttered broccoli, or good old fashioned corn.

There are too many to mention; most have already... With a good steak (rare of course), nothing in my opinion goes better than a large, crisp salad and a loaded baked potato with butter, broccoli florets, crisp crumbled bacon, chipped fresh vidalia onions, shredded sharp cheddar, and of course an obscene amount of melted cheeze-whiz... Of course, don't forget the fried mushrooms as an appetizer.

my favorite veggie to eat with my steaks has got to be a good baked tater with butter/ little salt and some sour creme/ also some fresh sliced (garden) tomatoes and corn on the cob-- cooked on the grill as well.. that to me is the perfect steak dinner-- yummm drooling just thinking about it...

Some of the local steakhouses specialize in creamed spinach, but I prefer either steamed asparagus with aoli or pommes frites (made the right way--cooked twice--with fresh potato).

Well it "useta" be baked potato--but as of late id rather crusy bread for my carbs and mushrooms(preferably wild but portabellos will do nicely) and either steamed broccoli--bright and still with a bit of crunch-and a little holandaise--or grilled aspargus!

I'm a purist, Texas-style: steak, baked potato (or, if I'm of a mood, steak fries), garden salad with either blue cheese or ranch dressing. That's it. Maybe some sauteed mushrooms on the side.

I cannot imagine a good steak without a hot mashed potato with lotsa butter, salad and a glass of good red. Somehow that all seems to blend well with me. Salt and pepper on the potato while it is hot and it is great.

I reached the weight I desired better than a year ago and now I sort of modify my Atkins thing.

Baked potato with sour cream and salsa

Zucchini and yellow squash lightly cooked with hot chiles and basil has been good lately.

Mushrooms of any type. Green beans. Sweet corn on the cob. Asaragus.

    Too many to list...

Small baked potato w/ butter, sour cream, salt, pepper; steamed asparagus with butter & lemon; small tossed salad (dressing depends on my mood). And absolutely nothing more complicated than salt, pepper, and perhaps a bit of olive oil or a drizzle of garlic butter on the steak itself.

Rick, I have exactly the same when eating at home. However, I do have the creamed spinach whenever I go to 'Ruth's Chris' in Las Vegas.

We eat mostly at home, and swap around a couple of the following; carmelized onions, sauteed mushrooms, twice-baked potatoes, asparagus with hollandaise, corn on the cob, carrot souffle, creamed spinach.
