food and drink sample displays Mon, 07/18/11 5:27 PM (permalink)
I've seen food displays that look very real. I would like to make a drink display of my lemonade. What I need is fake ice so it will last in this heat. Does anyone know where to get fake ice for a display?

You can make your own or buy it online. Do a search for fake ice- photography, or fake ice/ how to make it, or go on ebay and buy it.

I seem to remember seeing ice cubes that look like ice cubes but were really plastic. You were supposed to put them in the freezer and the liquid inside would freeze. Then you could put "ice" in your drink without diluting it.This was sometime in the last few months. I can't tell you any more than that. It may have been on an RV supply site like Camping World, PPL Motorhomes or Adventure RV. Possibly Tweety's. Unfortunatly my mind is as sharp as it was when I was a teenager!

There are shops that make wax food items that are pretty close to the real thing. The use of wax food is pretty prevalent in Japan, where they advertise the food they serve so foreigners can understand what they can expect. I found a site called rndfakefoodplus (dot com) that might be able to help you.

I saw a documentary on the process. It's quite fascinating, I really to learn.
