georgia tag fees (or your home state) pls post amounts you paid and what food truck owned.

new tag costs and renewal fees would seem like a good thread to start. pls list the year and model truck you own or trailer and how much you paid in new and renewal tag fees run in your county and state. ill post mine later this week when i get mine but an online search was a waste of time. thanks

Why not just call you county license bureau and ask how much they cost for your truck or trailer?

In Illinois rumor has it if it's a piece of equipment  like a cement mixer or smoker you don't have to buy tags. I took that as BS at first but after the 1st year I didn't renew my plates on 3 of my trailers. I have pulled them to events and never had any problem. Knock on wood it keeps going that way. But if I do get a ticket I know all I have to do is go buy a plate and take the receipt to court and they will throw out the ticket. I'd check my state if I were you guys. Some states if you can't haul items in the trailer it's equipment. Others are if it has wheels it better have a plate on it.

As with ANY other vehicle in the state of Georgia, your tag fee is $20, and if you need a plate another $8.

That ONLY gets you a tag.  There is still the tax requirement.  This varies based on county of registration and the value of the vehicle.

A truck worth $3000 in a county with a 6.5% tax and requiring a new license plate would cost __________ (you do the math - it is $3K x 6.5% plus $20 plus $8)

A $30000 truck would be 10 times the cost in taxes, but the tag and plate charges remain consistent.

Yes, the tag office needs to see a bill of sale or use "fair market value" to set your taxable value.

If you have lived in GA over 1 year, it is the same processes used to register your car, no special requirement to put a tag on a food truck.
