Do waste water bins tie into a drain hose at the commissary or are the water tanks removable and manually dumped into a mop sink/drain? Thanks for any help

We drain our tank via a dedicated garden hose into a sewer drain at the campground we live at. This is the "approved" method. We don't have to have a commissary. We have a 30 gallon waste tank. We are NOT going to pick that up. I have a two wheeled 30 gallon "blue tote" for the RV and I can barely move it (4 wheel would be better for that amount of waste water) and "tote" it to the dump station with the jeep. But if you aren't going to use a hose, you might one to get one of these (get a 4 wheeled one that will hold your whole tank... better on your back). http://www.adventurerv.ne...-kit-barker-p-418.html

Our waste water tank is pumped (with a 12V pump and garden hose) into the drain at the commisary. I've known others to just open the valve over a storm drain though. (NOT recommended! lol)

Thanks all for the insight. I won't sound totally nuts when I start talking to health inspectors.

How do you get away without having a commissary ? We have a local campground that will let me dump in the winter but the nearest commissary is over 80 miles away from where I live. That's were I'm at now with the HD I can not afford to drive 160 miles a day just to dump the tank and get water.

Freezers-full-in-Alaska ... How do you get away without having a commissary ? I'm in NM. We do not need a commissary. HD say we are to dump in the commercial sewer system at the campground and to use their potable water.

The key ideas are : "approved waste water system" "potable water from an approved source" Any location that accepts business from the public obviously has either an approved septic system or city sewer hookup. Likewise, they also have to be using water that is safe (and approved) for public consumption. So almost ANY business comes to mind that serves the public. Think outside the box and look at businesses besides restaurants.

I am allowed to dump into my home septic system but my system is oversized, engineered, and only a few years old. I have to get my fresh water from a quarterly tested public water supply. I dump the grey water into an rv tote similar to the ones in the other post pictured. Sucky part is I have to lift it into my truck. At 35 gallons you can imagine how fun that is if we fill it. luckily I usually only have to dump about 14 gallons a day.

I wouldn't want to be dumping grey water into my home septic, I have a holding tank next to my trailer and see the amount of grease that collects in there.

This is the exact wording I have on my HD paperwork so I was thinking of contacting my local soup kitchen or freestore foodbank and asking if I can get water and dump there and in return I will donate food to them that I have left over after a days work. What do you guys think of that idea?

That's were I'm at now with the HD I can not afford to drive 160 miles a day just to dump the tank and get water. I was able to get my trailer permitted as "fully self contained" by the state and do not need a commissary. I get water from an approved source and dump at any public RV dump site. If you have any water haulers in your area servicing cabins, etc. they have to be permitted by the health department and qualify as an approved water source for us. Also, the septic trucks that service the outhouses at the campgrounds will also service trailers.

PurpleCheetah ... is it illegal to pull over a sewer drain and release your waste water by hose or is it just not a good idea to do so? SEWER DRAINS IN PARKING LOTS AND ON THE STREET DO NOT CONNECT TO THE SEWER PLANTS!!! What you dump down a sewer drain simply runs out to the closest local waterway. If you dump waste from an food cart, RV, etc, you are dumping into waterways and it is illegal. Not always enforced, but still considered "dumping of hazardous waste". Even grey water is considered as hazardous waste even though it is not raw sewage. I know they are commonly called "sewer drains" but what they really are called is "storm water drainage". I would turn you in if I saw you doing it. Not to the health dept but to the EPA. Escondida Grill in Socorro, NM was dumping their greasy waste water into the sewer drains at Socorro Fest. FILTHY, FILTHY, FILTHY! We sold on the street in that same spot the following Monday and David complained to the event promoter (and every one else who would listen) about the "grease spot" we had to set up in. I would not eat at a place that would do that. Looked like they had been slopping hogs. Filthy, dirty, nasty... how clean do you think their restaurant is if they would do a nasty thing like that on the park. They did that at two events that we knew of. I decided if they did it a third time, I would take pictures and turn them in to the EPA. Apparently they were told to stop as I haven't seen them do it since.
