Sacramenty has alot in common with the midwest.Lots of graceful Vicorians grace its tree lined streets , and the the two rivers that meet here give the air a special scent . If ever you find yourself in this fair city, you would do well to get yourself to Jamies. Way off the beaten treack, but near the mighty Sacramento River, the old barely standing building speaks a history untold . Once you walk through the door and see the circa 1906 barframe ( saved from the great SF earthquake and brought up river) you will know you are in for a treat. Have not had a bad thing at Jamies - the calamari fresh and tatsing of the sea, the burgers thick and juicy ,the garlic steak sandwich sublime and its roll so crunchy and dripping with a happy marriage of butter and garlic....Jamies is also known for other great seafood specials , but if you are a misplaced Easterner like myself. likely you will most appreciate the Boston Chowder( served only on Fridays)...Its creamy, rich in just the rght way ,and has clams in every bite. Soon Jamies will be featured on Diners , Drive In s and Dives so ya better get there quick....those in the know in this Old River Town just love Jamies.

I had a buddy living in Sacramento in the 80's and 90's, and visited that beautiful town several times. I remember the delta and the houseboats, the capital, the railroad museum, old town, and there seemed to be a mom-and-pop oriental store/restaurant on every corner. Good food! And it is a lovely city, with great weather. DDD did a segment on that little diner with the cheese "skirt" on the burger.
