Winslow's is the moistest, dampest bbq I've had in KC. It isn't a style I've found an affinity for. Everything seem steamed rather than smoked. The service is great as is the location, but try as I might, I just don't get it. Winslow's is in the CIty Market at 5th and Walnut, KCMO.

all i can comment on was the burnt ends they were quite smoky and had a nice crust one tourist told another it was the best q he had tried in kc ...but he was a tourist [me too] the city market [full farmers market, including livestock] was quite the experience and is downtown only 3 blocks from the big muddy [missouri river]

I'm glad you enjoyed our City Market. We go every week. I'm going to give Winslow's another try. You made a good case for the burnt ends! The people who run the place are very nice and hard working.

I will definitely give Winslows a try since we will be traveling through KC soon. Any other goodies we should look out for?

i hear tell that kcmo has more bbq joints per capita than any other place.......period driving around town or even through the burbs there is a faint smell of wood smoke until you get near to a q joint there are some places reviewed on this site, but one that is not may well be the best q in kc it is JACKSTACK, and you'll find it south of town in martin city the star of the show is the bbq baked beans which may well be the best on the planet the city market was great, and you would probably enjoy the "ARABIA" museum located there the arabia is a steambout that went down in the missouri river in the 1850's, and was recovered in the 1980's
