low-carb diets, are they... Sun, 01/2/05 11:14 AM (permalink)
losing popularity. I keep reading that that more and more people are abandoning them considering the regimen more of a phase and have begun to include more carbs in their meals, but do so moderately and sensibly?

Are any posters here still adamant and strict about the diet and how many people chose to get off?

The Sundancer is definately a fan of Atkins. It works for me. I am not a advocate for anyone else using it however it is easy for me to use.

I was strict Atkins for one year and I backed off some for the holidays and picked up five quick pounds. I am back on it and have lost one of the five and I will lose the other four or five during the next two weeks.

I am not a preacher for the plan, I am just telling you what worked for me. It can get boring when you are trying not to consume more than 20 carbs daily.

In my opinion all diets have restrictions. You just have to choose what works best for you. At one time the Sundancer weighed 245 and I have been at 185 now for better than one year. I owe this to Atkins. I actually got down to 179 for a short while but I have maintained 185 for so long that I am getting use to it. I believe that I will be a Atkins dude for the rest of my life. The South Beach is better for some as it allows some nuts and berries.

Well you can tell I'm bored today. We had an ice storm and the whole town is an ice rink, I'm not even going to attempt to get out. Even the dog is having problems walking and he's got 4 paw drive.

I went from 250 to just under 200 on an almost strictly Atkins diet, and some weight training. I went on the diet after having to purchase a pair of 42" jeans. I did keep eating a large thin crust pizza once a week. I used to eat a lot of spaghetti, cheese bread, sub sandwiches, fries etc. I started adding to much back into my diet and sloughed off on the exercise. and am now around 215, and up to a 38" waist from my low of a 36" pair. I decided I would just use moderation and low fat...not working for me. Just finished up my first work out in a few months and have got to get back on the low carb deal. I'll watch it hard these next few days but starting Friday is my annual ski trip to Steamboat Springs. I ski the first half of each day, hot tub it, late lunch and beers down town, read a book and take a snooze, off for my evening meal. Can't wait! I usually don't gain to bad as the skiing burns quite a few calories. It's kind of why I do that rather than go sit on the beach,,,they'd keep trying to push me back into water.
