Hey cpyxp!! welcome to roadfood. The site looked pretty interesting. I can't understand how an ice cream only places manages to make enough $$ to stay open in an area where the summer is somewhat abbreviated.
Also, have you had the "green cow"? I've never heard of one; can you describe it?

Mmmmm... Ollie's. I swear they were closed during the winter months when I was going to college at NIU in DeKalb. Mmmmmmm... college.

cpyxp, is that in the strip mall on the south side of town, on the east side of IL 23? I remember finding an ice cream place there 4-5 years ago, a few blocks south of the Amerihost Inn, and having a snack.

The funny thing is, I have one map each of Sycamore and DeKalb, but guess which map has Oakland Drive, where Ollie's is? DeKalb!

P. S. Is Tom and Jerry's Restaurant still around?

Tom & Jerry's has been open in Rockford for some time now (over 10 years, pushing 15).

And Ollie's location is more "DeKalb" than it is "Sycamore". Its address may be Sycamore, but I doubt it would even show up on any Sycamore maps.

I was in DeKalb this past week.... amazing how much has changed in just the 8 years I've been away.
