NYC to Finger Lakes

Leaving for the finger lakes area -- canandaigua -- and looking for some good recommendations anywhere along the way -- mostly along I-81 through binghamton area.

Any help would be awesome.

There is a good softserve place right on Route 17 by the only traffic light on that road. Don't know the name or location. It's pretty clear when you pass it.

Binghamton: Anyplace you can find speidies (there's a place on 17 near the Chenago Forks exit off 81...can't remember the name). Cortese's on Robinson Street for dinner (steak ala milanese, steak pizzaola, veal and peppers).

Cortland: Lunch; Pita Gourmet on Main Street (informal Lebanese), The Community Restaurant, Main Street, (good home style cooking with a greek flair...good for dinner too)
Dinner; The Lido on Port Watson Street,(spaghetti joint), The Green Arch on Elm Street,(spaghetti joint, great steaks, need reservations), Bob's BBQ on 281 North of Homer (Cornell Style Chicken with picnic sides, its outdoors, picnic tables, open evenings Wednesday through Friday, all day Saturday and Sunday).

Syracuse:Where else? the Dinosaur BBQ on Willow Street (Awsome BBQ with biker flair, see their website dinobbq.com)

Skaneateles: The Sherwood Inn on Genesee Street, Dougs Fish Fry (follow your nose), Rosalie's Genesee Street.

Auburn: Curly's on 20.

Nickbaily: If you are going up 17, stop for breakfast at the Quickway Diner in Bloomingburgh (near Middletown) - big bustling diner with a big menu.

For lunch , a light lunch, stop at the Wagner Vineyard on Seneca Lake. Sandwich and salad with a bottle of wine on their deck on a nice day is great. The wine is mediocre (they used to make a realy good Chardonnay) - I hear they make some good beer and ale, but have never tried it. Whatever, stop at Constantine Frank on Keuka and Herman Wiemer on Seneca - the best wineries in the area. Pick up a map of wineries at the first chance you get.
