Doyle's Sunday Brunch Jamaica Plain - Mon, 03/3/03 3:18 PM

Doyle's is the second oldest classic bar in Boston. You can have a wonderful time within it's historic walls anytime, but man, they will sweat you a mean brunch Sundays until 3:00 pm. The stars are the omelets and the variations on eggs benedict. Of these the one I always order is the Eggs Bellange, poached egg over homemade corned beef hash on toasted english muffin, all slathered with Hollandaise. Oh, baby! Doyle's is also special in that alcohol starts flowing at 11:30 am on Sunday, so you can wash down brunch with a pint o' Guinness or their award winning Bloody Maries. Hmmm...should I be telling this secret?

The Doyle's brunch is okay -- I get the Eggs Bellange too! -- but I prefer to wait until after 4 p.m. and get the fish and chips off the dinner menu...it's one of the better versions I've had locally!

The main drawback to Doyle's is that even in the back room, it can get way too crowded and noisy.
