Re-reading James Mischener's "The Source". Last time I read it was at least 20 years ago. Recently got renewed interest in the area, so decided even though it is fiction, it is probably more accurate than most current histories of the area !

Just finished Dan Brown's Inferno...I didn't enjoy it as much as the previous Langdon-based works.

Ah....but the question is...will your kids or your grandkids like it?

A History of Food in 100 Recipes by William Sitwell - I'm enjoying this -interesting historical facts combined with how certain foods and their preparation developed, all done in a light  and humorous way -

Dearie. The Remarkable Life of Julia Child by Bob Spitz.  If anybody inspired me about French cuisine it was her.  I enjoyed our AIWF meetings at her home in Cambridge, MA when I lived in Boston.
Next on the list is Iditarod Alaska, Life of a Long Distance Sled Dog Musher by Burt Bomhoff.  MH got it for me and I can't wait to dive into it.

I picked up the latest Dale Brown Tech-military novel at Costco Sunday. Same characters and basic plot line he has used since 'Flight of the Old Dog'...but it is good to have in the truck while Janet does her shopping on 'errand day'.

I just started The Eye of the Needle by Ken Follett.  Seriously--three people came up to me in the coffee shop where I was reading it and said they loved this book.    That wouldn't have happened if I were using a Kindle--my book choice would have been stealthy!

Mayor Al:  I read The Source long ago--such a great concept for a book and so engaging.  I remember a lot of sacrifices, though--like every other chapter or something!

I recently finished both The Duck Commander Family: How Faith, Family, and Ducks Built a Dynasty and Happy, Happy, Happy by Willie & Korie (Howard) Robertson and Phil Robertson, respectively.  They were both pretty good, considering.  Willie & Korie's book was the better of the two.  I enjoy the TV show and the books gave some interesting background on the family and how they became successful.  Korie Robertson is the granddaughter of Alton Howard, who made millions as a publisher of hymnals and devotional publications.  Her father, John Howard, was integral to the success of Duck Commander.  Howard Publishing became Howard Books when it was bought by Simon & Schuster.  As you might imagine, Howard Books are the publishers for all of the Robertson family books.

I just finished Linda Ronstadt's autobiography, Simple Dreams. I learned a lot about her music, not so much about her. She's up for a nomination into the R&R Hall of fame, which is way overdue in my opinion.

Before I Go to Sleep by S.J. Watson - about an amnesiac (how she became amnesiac is a mystery not revealed yet) who most of the time can't remember what she said or her actions from the previous day not to mention most of her life, but once in a while gets flashbacks where she has perfect memory over conversations and events as early as her childhood.

Read it now because I just saw where it's been made into a movie with Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth.  Once you know the ending,  no one is  going to want to read it.

Just started, and already hooked, on Joe Hill's latest, 'NOS4A2', his third novel, after Heart Shaped Box and Horns, both of which I thoroughly enjoyed.

He is a great talent, and he comes by it naturally, being the son of the famous Stephen King.  These three are supernatural thrillers like his dad writes, but I actually think the kid might be better than Pop.

'NOS4A2' is a play on words of the name Nosferatu.  It's a vanity plate on an old and rare Rolls-Royce, and you know the owner is up to no good!
