How come no posts about Shawarmas here?

These things ROCK!!! Tender strips of chicken, beef, or lamb served w/hummus , tomatos, pickles, onions, tahini and rolled in a large pita bread, toasted to perfection. I am grabbing a large Kefta tonight (two baked skewers of lean, ground sausages with a blend of onions, parsley, and spices. Served on a large rolled pita with hummus, tomatos, pickles, house dressing. Of COURSE I have to get baklava with it. And no, these aren't gyros. Not the same thing. Meditteranian grub rules

Damn, those sound great! Never had them. How would you find some? Are there Shawarmaas and Keftas? My knowledge is lacking about this type of food. Joe

There's a place in Columbus Ohio, in like a strip mall where I've had them. Fantastic! Anyone from Columbus know what it's called? I think they're locally famous. A friend of mine who's gone now had taken me there a few times and they were alway's packed. The sauce was out of this world.

I do believe it is. When you walk in the door the service counter is on the right and their dining room is to the left? I never did the driving there so didn't pay much attention. The name Nazareth does ring a bell. I loved that you could smell it from the middle of the parking lot at lunch time with all the traffic around.

Since this thread was last updated, Nazareth (which does have terrific shawarma) has moved across the street. It's now in a free-standing building on the south side of 161 just east of Cleveland Ave, in what used to be a Chili's. They've also acquired a liquor license and serve beer as well. Word to the wise though: avoid the fried pickles.
