If it were my Mom's I could eat it every day but........

It would have to be very, very good fried chicken, and in my opinion, that is difficult to come by. But love the good stuff, enough to eat it every day.

These are such funny responses to the question. I needed the chuckles. I guess eating one thing everyday would become tiresome, but it would be nice to be able to taste my Mom's fried chicken at least once more in my lifetime....but that's impossible. Guess I wouldn't want it EVERY day.

Thanks for the humorous replies.

Pete, most folks in the world fast at least one day a month. Therefore they would not eat fried chicken everyday, or grits as Adj suggested. Or, did Adj mean he eats grits everyday? [B)

I personally do not like anything every day. I like variety and doing certain kinds of food on a daily basis would get very tiresome.

I am not sure why the poster entered such a question??

Hello All,
I must confess to eating a salad, with french fries, horseradish sauce on the side to dip the
fries in, everyday, except Saturdays. Every other meal then is open for whatever I hunger for
or can get. But in my salad, I can create a world of diverse flavours and options.
Fried Chicken everyday? In my family history, it was reserved for the Sunday meal.
Currently, my wife doesn't know how to make real fried chicken. It seems Mr. George Foreman
has created an instrument that my wife uses anytime chicken is made at home.
Sometimes, I miss being a child.
Take Care,

I think that's true for all of us. To answer the question, I could eat good fried chicken every other day, I love it.

traditional fried chicken everyday? probably not, since i try to limit myself to 20 grams of fat per day, but i do like the stuff :) my mother made skinless fried chicken when we were young, she would marinade it overnight, flour/egg/crumbs breading, shallow-fried in a cast-iron skillet. i would eat that everyday if i could, even without the greasy skin it was great stuff.

I think the poster was just trying to "shake us up"...
(shake 'n bake chicken, anyone?!?)

I do love fried chicken, but only when it's GOOD....(light floury crusty batter, etc)(the way I like it).....give me Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles in LA! (wish I was'nt on the other coast)
everyday would be a bit much, though.....come on now..

I used to work a quick walk from Deacon Burton's and could easily have eaten fried chicken, griddlecakes, and peach cobbler every day. I figured it would be a short life, but a happy one. (On the other hand, the Deacon lived well into his 90s)

Dearfolk,
This probably should go under the "Breakfast" fora, but I've known people who ate fried chicken for BREAKFAST every single day.
Fact is, The Gateway Cafe on North Avenue here in Athens has it on their breakfast menu.
Now I've got to encourage Mama's Boy to put it on their's, and to offer it hot OR cold!

Skinless vs. skin-on?
No question about it, if I had to choose I'd prefer skin-on chicken eaten less often, than skinless chicken eaten every day.

If it is my Wife's Iowa style fried Chicken, I would be tempted to have it everyday. If not only once a month, with the exception of Strouds KC fried chicken which I would like once a week.

My grandmother who is now deceased use to fry chicken for breakfast about every 3rd or 4th day. They had a farm in upper East Tennessee of about 500 acres and they lived off this farm.

Breakfast was a super meal. Every breakfast was either country ham, sausage, fried chicken or pork chops with all the trimmings. Always fresh baked biscuits and gravy of the day.

Many stories about this farm has appeared on this site including the moonshine story and Thanksgiving hog killing time.

That sounds like one of my sets of Grandparents (not the ones I shared with MikeS). Granny would get up well before daylight and add some wood to her cook stove. The breakfast menu would include fried pork chops and/or fried chicken, her cathead biscuits, mashed potatoes, milk gravy, other veggies, fried eggs, sausage, bacon, and various preserves. There would be a pitcher of fresh milk and one of buttermilk on the table. That family worked hard and ate good.

WOW!!! What a question . . . and I have to wonder about WHY it was asked .

But here is MY answer: "it depends upon whether I had a choice of eating fried chicken EVERYDAY, or of starving."

I LOVE fried chicken (just like I LOVE cigars) . . . BUT in moderation please, according to Mark Twain!

I especially love fried chicken when it is cooked properly in a SOUTHERN style.

But, again, given a choice of culinary alternatives, I would prefer a VARIETY of entree choices.

On the other hand, if incarcerated in the Gulag, I would VERY MUCH welcome fried chicken EVERY DAY .

Now, could you explain why you asked that question? I'm really curious.

We may never know why this question was asked, Bill. It may have been someone with strict dietary convictions on a roll. My Mom's people subsisted on such a diet after years of restricted diets based on economic restrictions. Most people recognise they were healthier eating the poke salad, corn bread, and fruit and veggies they picked.

Here in the South, fried chicken, country ham and barbecue are a sort of culinary religion for most folks. If fried chicken were put in front of me every day, I'd eat it; same with country ham and barbecue. They are constant staples in my diet. I like all sorts of other things, too, but I'll never pass those three up. And when all three are offered? Decisions, decisions!

I usually add celery, onions, carrots, etc. to add some flavor. Last time I added some mushrooms that needed to be used. Either that was a bad idea, or I used too many, but it came out a little musty tasting.

I have recently started freezing some of the stock in ice cube trays, and keep the cubes in a Ziploc for when I just need a small amount of stock for a dish.

Definitely. I LOVE fried chicken, fried pork chops, chicken fried steak...... honesly I've never had a good fried chicken made at home but there's a chain in San Antonio called Bill Miller's BBQ that has the absolute best fried chicken! I could it eat everyday and I'm not afraid to say so. Now of course, I don't actually eat it everyday because of how fattening and heart clogging it is, but I could. I remember when I used to work almost everyday for lunch we'd go to Bill Millers and I'd always get the 2 piece fried chicken with fries, a roll and sweet tea. I had to stop after awhile because it really isn't good for you...and i was blowing money when I could've just packed healthier lunches to take to work.
