Try buffalofoods.com. It's a one-stop shopping site for Buffalo-area goodies - you can get Nowinski's pirogis, Pumpernick Bakery's placek & Polish pastries, and best of all, Redlinski's Polish sausages and kiszka. We've ordered from them several times, and they are relaible and have quick delivery.

I think the Polish Guy is great, and most of you, just don't understand him. He is very proud to be Polish-American, and so am I. Don't be so hard on him.

Let's do a short quiz.

Hey Valpo Mike, is there any food that's better than Polish?

If yes, welcome aboard.

If no, welcome back!

Many food are good, and I like many types.

Who is this guy, Polish Guy, who you say I am.

Valparaiso, has around 40,000 people, and more than just one who is Polish.

Sounds like Valparaiso is a town of clones....must be really boring[|)][|)][|)]

I am pure polish, blonde and female and have heard all the jokes! Moved from Chicago 29 years ago and now live in 25 miles from Portland, Oregon. There are no polish restaurants in the area. Have put some serious effort into this search. My parents came out to visit and asked for Polish cuisine, the best we could offer was German. My brother calls weekly from Chicago and brags about the kielbasa, pirogues and sauerkraut along with the European beer at the numerous festivals.

Just a suggestion if you like to cook. There are a number of web sites that offer Polish cuisine. Personally, I would appreciate a review from someone who ordered on line before I took that step.

Hope this helps?

Greetings!

My fav. polish dish is the trad. Bigos.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bigos

A befriended couple, both of them ethnic german immigrants from Poland used to cook the Bigos very often, absolutely delicious, even better, when warmed up for several times!

Both of them live in Canada now, I miss their typical polish cuisine very much...

(Sad) Regards

Michael

Near Portland, you should venture to Tigard and go to Victor's European Meat Market, 13500 SW Pacific Hwy. All homemade sausage and meat products made on premises. Woerth the trip!

Hey everyone.
If you are in the NJ/ NY area, you must come to Linden, NJ.
It is 20minutes from Manhattan and you can hop on a train and get there. we have the NJ Coast & Eastern Corridor trains of NJ transit trains stop.
Linden has sooo many different Polish stores, At least 5 just on Wood Ave (Main Street of Town).  And we have travel agencies, stores and salons.

Pulaski Meat Products is definetly the place to go.
My godfather works in the back making the meats daily. Everything is FRESH, clean and homemade. Plus the staff all speak English and Polish.
Definately must got there.

On the Local News (NBC) last night they broke the story of a drug-sniffing dog who came across a U Haul Truck at a vehicle stop. The truck had 180 multi-kilo bags of Marijuana aboard. The two men driving the truck are Polish nationals who apparently entered the US illegally and were hauling the Pot to pay their relocation expenses.

Were this anywhere in the Southwest the story probably wouldn't make the news, but since it took place in or near the birthplace of the Pizza and the center of Polish (rural) life in northern Indiana, it has become the target of many 'ethnic' jokes.

The Pierogi Palace on West Grand Avenue,Rahway,NJ - serve great homemade pierogi, I had the potatoe and cheddar cheese and they were some of the best I've tasted. They have at least 16 different combinations as well as other Polish favorites such as stuffed cabbage/peppers,potatoe pancakes and Kielbasa & Sauerkraut.  Call ahead to find out what is available that day, their phone # is 732-499-8411. Small store but worth the trip, voted as one of the best by the Star Ledgers Munchmobile.

We are making a 'Trick or Treat Weekend' trip up to see our family in Baraboo,WI this weekend. In the past we have used the I-39 to avoid  congestion in Chicago and Milwaukee and to speed up the drive. This time we will do some Xmas shopping in the Amish villages in Northern Indiana on Thursday. Then Friday, we'll go thru Chicago (no time for a Freddies Stop or Czech food ). We will test the Polish food in Milwaukee with some friends, then get out into the countryside to Baraboo for the weekend. poverty Pete has sent me a list of stuff to pick up for him at the Usinger's store downtown!
Our friends are going to 'Surprise' us with their choice of restaurants for the dinner...since I know little about Milwaukee, or about Polish food, I am looking forward to the experience with great anticipation !! We'll report back upon our return.

You going to Crocus or Polonez?
Both are good, Crocus is more homey and less expensive.
It also is only open for dinner on Friday and Saturday, Sunday brunch and weekday lunch.

George and Alexandra at Polonez are great hosts.

Enjoy!

Welcome,
I spent some time in Garden City NY and I know what it means to miss national food.
Now, as I came back to Poland I think I can help you and send some of your beloved food items. Vacuum packed food such as kabanosy, dry kielbasa as well as other specialties from our best producers will surely be ok after 3 days, providing they're well packed and sent via UPS.
I even planned to open an on-line store.
I think for larger orders I may try to balance the price vs. shipment cost (awfully high), so both sides are satisfied.
Tell me what you think about it, and PM me or email if you plan an order.

BR
Peter
