Foods you think you should like, but don't?

Are there any foods you think you should like, but don't for some reason? I just made beef stroganoff, I made it well, tasted like it should...but I guess I've decided I just don't like it for some reason. I mean whats not to like? Anyone else have foods like that?

I had even taken pics as I was going to do a write up, but after eating it I was just sort of blahh, what ever.

Can you turn it around to foods I love but wish I didn't? I love meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy, but I can't stop eating it before I've eaten too much, which is why I can barely move right now following my dinner of meatloaf and mashed potatoes and gravy.

Two items: Salad and buttered bread/toast. Every adult and most kids I know just love those things, but I've never been able to stomach them.

    I feel so........ different. *sniff*

    This one's easy.....okra.

Having lived in the south all my life, I practically grew up on the stuff. Then one night my parents, brother, and I were at a Grandy's (an old fried chicken place for those that didn't know) and I had a side of okra. For some odd reason, my spidey sense told me that I didn't like it anymore. That was about 18 years ago, and I haven't eaten okra since. I know...I'm a dork.

I do both. I have a thing about tree nuts and shrimp. Everyone I know can't fathom it, but I just can't eat them.

I also like anchovies on pizza, and, while I'm not alone, is pretty rare. I often wonder why pizza places offer anchovies, since so few of us eat them, but I love 'em.

Space, you are a dork! Joshing you a bit. Okra is a beautiful thing!!! YO Mammy taught you better, don't be lettin her down!!!!!
I eat just about anything prepared with care and love. A little gravy makes about anything taste good.
My "fessing up" is I really don't care for Avocados. That Guacomole thing just doesn't excite me. In social settings I'll do a couple chip dips of it, smile and try to look appreciative.
Edge, your Stroganoff looks delicious! Think you might be able to fill an ole pie pan full and drive it to me down here in southern New Mexico? I'll put you up for the night, even a week or so if you're willing to do a little fence work.

    Roux,

I just do not know. I will eat pretty much anything, ie. chitterlings, sea urchin, head cheese; I love sweetbreads and liver. I make sure that my pizza has anchovies. But chocolate, no thanks. I do not know what that says about me except that there is more for everyone else.

BTW, I do like Oreos but that's not really chocolate. And Roux, maple syrup is as good as sex. As a matter of fact...never mind.

    BB

Roux, Make sure you come back to us.

Everyone thought that I was on crack when I said I've never liked chocolate cake, brownies or chocolate ice cream! There is some kind of aftertaste I just really don't like about them.

I also can't stand donuts! I think they taste like rancid fat.

I also despise V8 juice- I wanna like it- try every new flavor that comes out hoping that "this will be one I like." I can't even choke the stuff down and no amount of vodka could even help.

    Mike,
I'm beginning to think we're all borderline insane! Edge went to a lotta trouble to make stroganoff, photos and everything! Would'nt eat it!
Another wont eat buttered toast. Then we dealt with nonsense fetishes not enjoying delicacies such as Okra, Anchovies, donuts and chocolate!
V8, add a little more vodka, tabasco and a celery stick!

BB.......I'M UP FOR THE BUCKHORN, OWL IS OK. THEN WE CAN GO LOOK AT THE BIRDIES. GUESS I WON'T HAVE TO SHARE MY HERSHEY BAR WITH YOU. THATS A COMFORTING YET SELFISH THOUGHT!

Liver and onions. I always thought it smelled good but I can't eat a bite of it.

Corn in soup or chowders. I love corn, I love it frozen, on the cob, I love cornbread. But put it in a soup, or put whole corn in the cornbread, and fugeddabodit. And I don't know why!

I don't like pizza. I don't like the smell, the look of it and the dough is just yucky.

I want to like chicken livers. My smeller says they smell good, my mouth even waters, yet when placed in front of me I just can't eat them.

I refuse to eat American chocolate. I don't care what you bribe me with, it's not happening. I'm a chocolate snob!

Wasabi! I'm Japanese-American, I luv western mustard, chili peppers of all types but cannot get the hang of wasabi. Somehow in my mind, rice and wasabi don't mix. I always have to order my sushi without wasabi whenever I eat in a sushi restaurant.

I don't like home-made ice cream. Go figure. And everybody says "Oh, you haven't tried mine". I haven't found one yet that I like. Give me vanilla out of the carton any day, but not that home-made stuff.

Don't care for chocolate, unless it has nuts with it. Plain M&M, chocolate ice cream, chocolate milk......nope. But a Hersey bar with almonds....that's a different story.

I'm not a coffee drinker. Just don't care for it. Co-workers have flavored stuff that smells divine. But it sure doesn't taste like it smells.

    Cheesecake. Can't stomach it.
Cooked Salmon. I really want to like it. I've tried it prepared dozens of ways and I still can't choke it down. Now...raw or smoked salmon: Bring it ON ! Go figure.

Then there are things that are just 'meh' to me ( couldn't care less if I ever ate them again..but I don't dislike them):
any type of chip (tortilla chips in particular)
    ice cream
    popcorn
    tortillas
    pie
    donuts
    chicken thighs
    Spanish rice
There's more..but these are the biggies.

You the Man!!! Getting away from this stuff is like trying to escape a bloodhound!
    You can hardly do it!
Ask suppliers what products they have without it and they look at you like your an alien.

The only thing I wish I liked but can't choke down on a bet is green asparagus.
I like the white, especially grilled but I can't stand even the smell of the green cooking. I do try them every now and again but....

Goat cheese. It tastes like what I'd imagine licking a basement floor would taste like.

Liver anything. A friend made a huge French dinner for us a couple weeks ago, and had what I'm told was very good pate, but it justed tasted bad to me.

Asparagus and zucchini. They just taste bitter and rotten to me.
