Who makes the best frozen onion rings? I know there is no substitute for fresh made but when I have no time or want a quick indulgent nighttime snack, I love to be able to pop something in my toaster oven.

Good question. I have never seen anything available retail that is worth 2 cents. Food service vendors seem to have the edge on these.

My boyfriend loves the brand name: Farm Fresh Onion Petals...he swears by them! I'm not a huge fan of any sort of onion ring..but these were actually quite good. I think they are found at Big Y. Hope that helps!

Have tried with little success to make them from scratch?? They were edible and tasted good but not the result I wanted.

If I buy frozen, my ONLY requirement is that they are TRULY RINGS and not those chopped up and formed things.

As for cooking them... hey, it's NOT health food! If you go by directions on bag of frozen rings they will NOT be super crispy in the time they say. I don't make them often, but when I do I FRY.

I second the vote for Ore-Ida, they're alrighta....I only buy the Gourmet version though, and I always deep fry or pan fry them. They don't turn out quite as good if they are baked.

However there is no substitute for homemade!

I am having trouble finding the Ore-Ida ones but bought frozen TGI Friday's beer battered onion rings. Not too bad in a pinch.

Our local Dollar Store recently started selling frozen food, I bought a baf of onion rings on a whim (never go shopping hungry)actually they are rather good. I crank the heat to 500 instead of the recommended 450, turn them after 5 minutes and check again at 10

The TGI Friday's ones were so-so. Yesterday I found Nathan's(as in the hot dog) batter dipped onion rings. Pretty good.

The guy that runs the breakfast/lunch place at the hotel uses those, he deep fries them. How do you do yours?
