Take a basic vanilla ice cream recipe and switch out the vanilla with root beer extract.
I haven't tried it, but I just read it on the net.

Hi Riley/Nelson -

I loved cream sickles so much as a kid....
So here's what I do.....
Make your basic vanilla ice cream mix -
Let a glass or two of rootbeer go almost flat...put in ice cube trays....
When the ice cream and cubes are almost frozen - swirl together, and re-freeze.
I always serve with extra root beer.

PS: I also make this with orange pop....

It's a big hit

so you make the ice cream, cause i have an ice cream maker, then put it into the freezer, then do the root beer, and how would you swirl them if they are frozen. i think that i am going to try what the other person said to use root beer extract. doesn't your method make the ice cream icy.

Never having made Ice cream, logic tells me to make a standard vanilla as the base, and drip some root beer extract (available at wine making supply shops) to taste.
