2nd Prize in cake baking contest
-
Mon, 07/9/07 1:21 PM
This just came over the wires from London----7/08/07 The BBC announced the winners of the Wimbleton Cake Baking Contest and 2nd place went to a lady (forgot the name, sorry) for her Victoria Sponge Cake. When she asked how many others were in that category she was told none. Said the judge, "but you see your cake just wasn't good enough for 1st place". It's tough when you can't win with no competition. The reason she didn't win First Prize---the ridges left on the bottom of the cake by the rack she set it on to cool. I say there they are nasty at Wimbleton !!! But the judges gobbled up the cake ridges and all. ---------------No recipe was included.

I think that only the British could do that. They have a stiff set of rules to live by. I don't envy them these days, their country is having a lot of problems, it is a shame. And is the USA far behind ??
