as promised.

5c smoked mullet(fish)
**1 pkg "Good Seasons" Italian Dressing Mix
1c mayo
1c buttermilk
cayenne pepper to taste

Mix all ingredients throughly and chill for 1 hour. Stir, serve with your favorite crackers.
** I've made this several times and find that if I pack the fish loosely in the measuring cup, the entire envelope of Good Season's is a bit much, tightly packed, much better. Of course it's just a matter of taste.

I hope some of you try this, I haven't found anyone yet that didn't just love it.

Rusty, the smoked mullet dip surely sounds good. Guess this is similar to that which I've eaten, but just never knew its ingredients. Can't wait to get smoked fish of some sort so can try it. Thanks.

Wrights Seafood in St Petersburg Fl sells their own recipe smoked mullet spread. We alway spick up a container to have with our 5pm libations when we are in that town - it's pretty good. I think Ted Peters may also have a smoked mullet spread.

Where I live there is only one brand, and, it's made in Cedar Key fortunatley. They have a smoked mullet dip, a crab dip, and a crawfish dip. All are good but mullet is my favorite.

We spent a delicious three days in Cedar Key a few years ago. Oysters and Pelicans is what I most remember. We stayed in a funky little hotel on the main street in the heart of downtown - walked everyplace, no need for a car once we were there.

A point of interest: A 1997 Jon Voight movie "Rosewood" is about the terrible crime that took place in 1923 in the tiny crossroads of Rosewood which you have to pass thru to get to Cedar Key. It's a well made movie and worth trying to find in your video store. I'm not sure the movie was actually made in that location...
