Just for fun - Cheese Theme Songs - Tue, 08/26/03 1:37 PM
0
About ten years ago, I came across the funniest conversation that I have ever heard on the radio. I was stuck in traffic on the way to the airport, and it cheered me up immensely.

The DJs were discussing a news story about how the Wisconsin Cheese Council was planning on doing a series of commercials similar to the California Raisins. They wanted people to call in with their suggestions of songs.

Two of the suggestions that really got me giggling were "Take a Cheddar, Maria" and "Ricotta Get Out of This Place".

Anyone have a topper?

Am I right in thinking that "Fight For Your Right To Havarti" was recorded by the Cheesetie Boys?

From the "ANIMANICS"

Sung by Pinky ( a lab mouse )

To the tune of Semper Fidelis (John Philips Sousa)

If you can't do it in your head, you can download it.
http://kcs.kana.k12.wv.us/herberthoover/new-stuff/animaniacs/cheese_roll_call.html
it is over 2 megs though.

Cheese Roll Call

A world of cheeses
Deliciously made for you and me
Flovors like Provolone and Brie
Each with its own ethnicity
So many cheeses
Are available all around the world for you to eat
Especially good with crackers and meat
A nice yummy treat

Thousands of cheeses
The texture of some can be real gooey
Others are quite firm and chewy
Some are better when mildewy
Bountiful cheeses
When you take a big whiff a few
Will make you want to spew
Especially strong is the cheese Remoudou
A real stinkeroo

It's incredible just how many kinds there are
From countries near and far
it's really quite bizarre
Now from the mouths of cheeses big and small
We proudly present to you
The cheese roll cal

Oh, how I like my cheeses
Cheese from around the world
Cheese is the taste that pleases
Cheese from around the world
(repeat)

Around this great big world
Around this big cheese world
Around this great big world
Around this big - cheese - world!

Now that I've stopped laughing enough to get off the floor, I will say you won't be alone. I gotta ask, you sat in the back did't you? So you could pass notes without the Nuns catching you.

How about a real one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XTW2m5HwS4

Lest we forget, the whole Cheesehead thing started when a White Sox player who's name escapes me used it as an insult to Milwaukee Brewers Baseball fans in 1987, when the Brewers, having won the first 12 games in a row, played the Sox for the 13th, and won.

My mind jumped immediately to Leona Anderson, a froggy-voiced old gal who put out the epic album "Music to Suffer By" in 1959. In "Rats In My Room" she soulfully exhorts:
"Cheese - How I'd LOVE to taste some cheese - I could accomplish that with ease - Except my cupboard's always empty and bare - because those dirty little RATS have been there"
But that's not all - there's her torchy "(I Want a) Limburger Lover" - 'to take my breath away'.

"Gouda been a Cowboy" by Colby Keith

"Green Green Cheese of Home" by Charlie Pride

"(They call me) The Bries" by Lynard Skynard

"Cheese, Cheese Me" by the Beatles

Just a few I thought of "spur of the moment."

Some of these are really funny!!!

Great posts everyone!!!

Well, there's that garage band classic from the '60s:

R!
G!
O-o-oo!

Of course, for sheep's milk cheeses there's a whole slew of possibilities.

It's ewe in the springtime.
I only have eyes for ewe
Ewe do something to me
All the things ewe are
Ewe make me feel brand new
Ewe. Ewe're the one.

All these songs would be perfect for a movie soundtrack.

The movie being "East of Edam", of course.

I'm just wondering if it took Big Ugly Mich, days weeks, months or years sitting at his computer  to dig up some bizarre obscure thread from 6 years ago, I wouldn't even begin to know how to do it, or to even find something, I'm just completely and utterly amazed and perplexed, sorry for rambling, but I just simply can't get over it.
