Chicken N Spice in Joliet, Illinois Tue, 09/11/07 10:12 AM (permalink)
Great food, the chicken is served as whole pieces or as "chunks". I recommend the "George and Eddie". It is three huge chicken chunks with a side of spicy rice, jo-jo's (potato wedges), a biscuit, and a choice of drink. Located in the downtown area of Joliet (with the courthouse and various government offices) makes it very busy during the lunch rush. The line sometimes goes out the front doors. The owners pride themselves in making sure their employees stay in school and even give them time to complete their homework while on shift. This place has been there for years and will be there for years to come.

The spicy rice is just as it is called. It must have some kind of Jalepeno or something in it, the chunks are fried.

Yes it is, unfortunately I have not eaten there. I just work in the area. Don't hang around all too much after work though. Here is their website http://www.merichkas.com/

Merichka's sure uses a lot of Butterine. What is Butterine? Margarine?

Justy thought I'd update everyone that the Chick'n & Spice is still there and still pretty good. I hit it up about once a month, but wish I could get there more.
