I recorded it- i watched it twice. I agree, very nice set-up and colors you use. Mark, i think this is "another" new beginning for you. You're my new hero!

Is Bill Geist all that spontaneous with the adlibs or is it scripted? It was fun to watch.

I hope our discussion about Bill Geist's bit is usually in the last half hour didn't cause anyone to miss it. It was on in the first hour.

I was wondering about that too. This is the first time I've seen the show, so I watched all of it, not wanting to miss CSD with his CSD's. It was a good program. I learned a lot.

I suprised that their are folks here who aren't at least vaguely familiar with the show, it has been on for 25ish years ? Well, my mom always watches it, I guess I thought everyone followed what my mom does!! It is a good show, and I think the mustard guy had his own segment on there years ago

I only just saw this thread (oops, don't know how I missed it, but don't browse the hd forum much)... hence I missed the show.

Actually the reason I found the thread is because I was looking for comments on the program on my tv right now - something all about hot dogs on the Travel Channel. (Is this a repeat?? Seems I might have seen talk about it before...)

Anyway congrats CSD, love the picture, love the hat, hope I can catch the segment on youtube!!!

Mark, Saw the show this morning and all I could think about was being there and doing the same thing last August. I'm really happy for you that you are getting so much attention. Thanks for the phone call the other night, it was nice talking with you again. I had to laugh out loud the other day when I found out that the Springfield, Mass Police Chief is leaving to go to Milwaukee. Anyway, Sunday Morning really brought back memories, congrats to you. The "Poupon U" guy is Barry Levenson, not the director of "Diner" and "The Natural", among many other great films, but the founder of the Mount Horeb Mustard Museum in Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin. Barry is a total mustard fanatic. His museum/store is a very fun place where you can actually learn a few things about mustard and buy from a selection of thousands of varieties from all over the world.

I taped the piece and haven't watched it yet, (please, no one tell me how it comes out), but on the day of the shoot, Barry was playfully (I think) berating anyone who tried to put ketchup on their dogs (a surprisingly high number given that the taping was done in Chicago and not up in Dairy Land). I avoided the chiding by going with a traditional Chicago Style Dog set of toppings which I would have done even if Barry were not there to scold me, since I am no longer eight years old.

I'm looking forward to relaxing later this evening with my VCR and CSD.

Yea, I heard and really believe it. But after 20 years of telling that to the wife that, it still doesn't get thru. Maybe you and CSD should tell her.

CSD, that was a good clip and I still can't believe that BIG DOG with the bun stuck to the bottom.

Oh no...I already have one wife that doesn't listen to me...I am not going to get involved in a battle that has been simmering (pun fully intended) for 20 years!

The piece was tons of tons of fun to watch but now I keep finding myself wondering what makes a "bad" tongs.... and do I have them????

Loved the show also. Bill Geist's reports are always interesting!! Does anyone know where you can buy Big Wallys? Haven't seen anything like that around here.

The half pound, natural casing, Vienna Beef Frankwust aka "Big Wally" is not a retail product. It' a commercial food service product available only to hot dog stands and restaurants.

CSD - I'm curious about the restaurant supply store you visited with your class. Is it in Milwaukee or Chicago and is it open to the public?

We visited Restaurant Depot in Milwaukee. They have locations in Chicago and Des Plaines and are not open to the public.

Watched the video clip as I missed the show that particular Sunday morning. Great job CSD. Would love to try on one of those "Big Wallys". Are they sold in Illinois anywhere? Will be in the state in late April.

If you happen to make it up to Kenosha, WI on April 5th or Milwaukeee, WI April 19th, students from Hot Dog University will be vending "Big Wally's" for their '"Behind-the-Cart" training.
