Welcome to the Beverage Forum
-
Tue, 01/22/08 10:40 PM
As requested by many members, Here is the new forum. I will move some of the old topics over here to make the place look lived in... Have Fun, and be Nice ! Funny... I went back 5 or 6 pages in the Misc forums and there sure seem to be a lot of Bourbon related threads (compared to the number of Beer, Soda, or w Hine)!

Unabashed, I don't put down a lot of hard liquor. I have a couple of commemorative Maker's Mark Bottles - unopened here, and two open bottles--one of Knob Creek and one of Barton's Gold. The Barton's is an inexpensive Owensboro,KY Bourbon that does just fine in Mixed Drinks (My Redneck Sours!).. The Knob Creek has been on the shelf here for over a year. It is available as special event-sipping nectar. These winter nights my one shot late in the evening is usually Peppermint Schnapps, either straight, or stirred into a nice cup of Hot Chocolate.

Neither could I !! (Last Night!) I quit last night after checking about 5 pages of the Misc Forums...Where I thought the Soda Stuff was...but didn't go back far enough. After your comment I search the forums and found the MOXIE thread and a few others in the Side-Dish and Desserts forums. I also pulled a couple more from further back from the MISC. Forums. I am not going to go way back and move them all. I think I went as far back as last summer. That should give us a base to work from. Thanks go to Stephen for providing a forum for this important topic to have it's own home.

Thanks Al, Nice job. As we all know only real men drink Moxie. It would be a good mix with your Bartons. My burbon is always neat though. Chow Jim

For sure, All the threads aren't Alcoholic...in fact post for post, the Carbonated beverages seem to have the numbers (so far). I don't recall a "Drink Milk" thread. If we have had one and I missed it post a link here to it and I will "move" it to this forum.

When I was down in Key Largo last week we went to "Sundowner's"( I didn't know it was chain related until yesterday)and had a couple of "Key Lime Martinis" gosh they were good. The bartender gave me the recipe, the bulk recipe as she makes them, I'd guess two gallons at a time?? At any rate in was a large container. They were sweet but oh so good. I guess you might call it a "foo foo" type drink, my BF drank one and liked it but not sure he'd tell his buddies. 1 - bottle citron vodka 2 1/2 bottles "Ke Ke", this is one of the "Key Lime" ingredients, not even sure if they sell it here but I intend to find out! 1 c. Key Lime juice 2c pineapple juice Serve in a martini glass with a graham cracker crusted rim.

Mayor, Here is some ammunition to present to diet soda drinkers. http://www.startribune.com/lifestyle/health/13980721.html It was a surprise finding in a University of Minnesota study as a cause on the risk of developing metabolic syndrome along with red meat and fried food (oh no!).

I am disappointed that my beer thread didn't make the cut for this forum but am glad that we now have a beverage site!!! Drinks are a very important part of what we pair them with. What tastes better than an icy cold root beer with that greasy burger? How about that wonderful glass of Champagne with that oysters Rockefeller? That great beer that you had with your Buffalo wings? Drinks and food are linked so much that I can't think not to include them in a food forum. Thank you Al for the new forum!!! David O.

David O It wasn't a specific decison on your thread...I just gave up on going back into 'history'. If you want to find it and put a link here, do it and I will move the thread. AL

When I lived there (in the Keys), Licor 43 was also used to make Key Lime Cocktails...It has a sweetish vanilla flavor which gives it a nice taste.. http://thespiritworld.net/2007/08/06/licor-43-aka-cuarenta-y-tres/ I dont recall pineapple juice being involved though. I am pretty sure it involved rum or vodka, DEFINITLY licor43, and roses lime juice or key lime juice. We used to make a frozen one (this is going back to 1989 at Holiday Isle) that had the graham cracker rim. Topped with whipped cream and more graham sprinkles....For some reason, I think we used whipped cream in the blender along with the other ingredients. Maybe it was heavy cream......Been a long time since I have made one! Oh it was sooo good.
