Scorereader... Lynchburg Lemonades.. lol.. Brings back memories. I used to bartend at a biker bar back in the early 90's.. Ladies would sit on my side and order them to no end.. Within a couple hours, never failing, they'd be getting awnry griping not enough jack in the mix (and I was never shy with the bottle to begin with)...

RE: Favorite Cocktail 2008/01/25 02:30:29
Here is one that I cooked up. I call it a Bushy Orb. It's basically a Manhattan. Use many parts Bushmills Irish Whisky, then add about 1/3 Chambord. Shake (on ice). Pour into a martini glass, and add at least two cherries. (More on this later)
This is guaranteed to get you in the sack. Here's what is so deadly about this concoction: The Bushmills (the Bushy part) is already pretty easy to suck up, at least for me. The Chambord (the Orb part) completely takes any remaining edge off the Irish koolaid. Girls will pound these until they have to be stopped. They LOVE the cherries, too. Something about the stemware makes it more sexy and sophisticated. Girls like hearing you shake the thing, it's more exciting than stirring it. Makes you appear more full of vigor.
Here's a good joke. After your friend has downed a couple of these, start absently playing with a cherry stem. Under the table, tie one in a simple knot. Hide it in your mouth. Make sure you have a second one. Have her watch while you put the second one in your mouth, then make all kind of goofy motions with your tongue, and after about 20 seconds, pull out the one with the knot. If she is astounded, she is probably ready to go home. She's wondering what other tricks you can perform with that tongue.

Either a bourbon Manhattan up-----or a vodka/martini with a twist (don't
care if it's shaken or stirred)also up-ice on the side please !!! When
asked a choice of brands I must say in honesty I usually can not tell
the difference.

Which goes with which---well it "ain't" the same as red wine with red meat
etc. but it really is---whatever I feel like. Sometimes I feel like a nut,
sometimes I don't. Cheers !!!!!

Forgot to mention that my bourbon Manhattan has to be straight up and icy cold. Used to love to have one at an airport restaurant when everything was smoky (I used to smoke) and it smelled like grilled steak. It all seemed so exciting.

bad week- vodka martini rocks with at least 3 green olives. And of couse, wine with the meal. And maybe, if I'm really celebrating- Kuluah straight up in a pony glass with a great cup of coffee on the side, for dessert!

Dearfolk,
No pun intended... I guess I'm old fashioned... my favorite drink is a screwdriver. But here's how I like it: start with nothing but 100% pure orange juice (no sugar added) and toss in a half-ounce of cinnamon vodka on the rocks, then serve it to me in a tall glass. Next hand me the Angostura Bitters and I'll add it until the drink begins to turn brownish... then it's ready.
Reminds me of Grandma Carlton's Christmas treat: old fashioned bitter orange sections with cinnamon and a little sugar, baked in the bottom of the oven. That bitter orange tree (well, it's actually a bush) was there when they built the house in 1910, and last I knew it was still there. "That's the old fashioned Florida yard orange," she once told me. "That type of tree was planted by Florida pioneers as an ornamental, but this particular one is a volunteer. The fruit is too bitter for cultivation."
She would have known; she was born in what is now Hardee County, Florida in 1884.

I make a mean pina colada ... I use the blender, and put in fresh bananas, coco lopez, pineapple juice, rum, ice, and just press the mix button...

When I'm out, I like GOOD rum runners, mai tais, stuff like that...
(unfortunately there are more BAD ones being made than good ones, it seems.. stuff that just ends up tasting so sickly sweet, or like cough medicine..

so when in doubt, I just try to order interesting hand crafted type beers, like belgian beers or Blue Moon, or Magic Hat stuff.

The bf is what you would call a "real" drinker. He sticks to his grey goose on the rocks.

In no particular order:

Margarita - various PHX locations or at home (Rocks/Salt; unless I'm at Z-Tejas)
Mai Tai - Where else but Trader Vics
Irish Car Bomb - Rula Bula in Tempe (actually anywhere they serve Guiness and don't mind you getting blotto)
Whiskey and Squirt - My Aunt and Uncle's house. (known as the House Drink) Don't forget the Marachino Cherry!
Single Malts straight up (not really a cocktail but...)
Sipping Whiskeys straight up ( ditto...)

Disclaimer: Desertdog believes in drinking in moderation. As always, if you have had too much to drink, ride with a friend or call a cab.
