Is this a re-run, I know I've seen a number of "blank blank Paradise" shows on TTC.

Well, according to Mr. Jersey Hot Dog (aka John Fox),who is in the show, this is a new one.

Not to be confused with Hot Dog Heavens, also from the Travel Channel.

As a side note.. ALOT of the same old places being reported on again, just the 4th or 5th variation of the same ol'.. Though I did see a new one for a change, Hot Dougs in Chicago... First person I thought of was Biker Jim with all them exotic sausages.

I watched it also. But as always they have left out Detroit. Why is this? Waisting time on wild game dogs, veggie dogs etc... They keep trucking out the owners of SuperDawg "Hi Ya". No Portellos? Doing a Hot Dog show without visiting Lafayette or American Coney in Detroit is just not right. HECK THE CONEY WAS INVENTED THERE...Russ

    John

You done good, it was great to put a face and voice with the name.

I missed the first airing @ 8pm, but caught the late show

I liked the addition of Hot Doug's which is quickly becoming a chicago institution, but unfortunately the rest of the show has been done several times before.

I did like the additons of the regulars (john, the lady eating at superdawg and the owner's daughter @ Jimmy Buff's)

Thanks! It was a lot of fun. You wouldn't believe how much time they spent filming. They were at Jimmy Buff's all day and came back again for another 4 hours. All for a segment that ran between 5 and 7 minutes. They spent about 20 minutes speaking with me. And I'm sure it was the same at the other places as well. I'm glad that one of these shows got around to featuring another Jersey hot dog establishment other than Rutt's Hut. I can think of nowhere more deserving than Jimmy Buff's, inventor of a Jersey original.

Happy to see John Fox last night for only a few brief minutes. The man speaks well and with authority on North Jersey hot dogs. the rest of the hour was a real drag- we've seen all those places endlessly over the years.

    Cheers, John

I just watched the show on Friday night (thank God for TiVO) and found all the segments to be highly entertaining. Jimmy Buff's appeared to serve the most tasty hot dog, but I have a bias since I've dined there previously.

Two very interesting segments were the guy in Chicago that served hot dogs made of various cuts of meat (venison, snake, etc) and the Miami establishment that served hot dogs made of salmon. Pink's didn't look like it was anything special, however. It seemed to focus too much on the 'celebrity draw' status, IMO.

On Monday, March 24th at 8pm/et, the Travel Channel will present another food related program in Chicago called "America the Wright Way," starring Ian Wright. Ian will attempt to stuff hot dogs at the Vienna Beef factory. A short video of this episode can be found on: www.travelchannel.com Go to America the Wright Way website and go to the "Behind-the Scenes" video. The hot dog segment is featured twice near the tail of the clip.

Might I say also the single best quote in this show can be attributed to John Fox, when he proclaimed that Jimmy Buff's taste exceeded Peter Luger's.

I also caught this segment yesterday. Being from Chicago, I can say Superdawg is pretty good, but there is better in Chicago for less $$$.

Some of those others looked terrible... starting with PINK's and the VARSITY; I have eaten at both and left disappointed. I wasn't expecting a Chicago style HotDog, but a decent dog. Pinks stinks and the Varisty is just too much volume to have quality. If either of these places where here in the Windy city, they would be out of business in less than a year.

Jimmy Buffs was interesting, never had the chance to eat there, but plan to next time I head east... looked kinda greasy though.

Most of all I want to eat at the Steak Place in Boston ... the Hilltop (??). That place looked awesome!!

    Hello all ,

Finally caught Hot Dog Paradise on the Travel Channel yesterday .
Excellent job by our very own John Fox .
Great job done with Jimmy Buffs one of our stops on last years , and I'm sure , this years Jersey Hot Dog Tour in Sept.
For more info on the tour go to the Misc Foods sect as we are working on a Sat in sept to go at it again .
After meeting Jimmy Buff last year he was a pleasure to talk to and was a great host for our group of 40 plus hot dog lovers .
As far as the other establishments , besides the original Coney island rest. I can not rate them .

Jimmy Buffs is well worth the trip from anywhere in the tri state area !!!
