Nanny's Kitchen in North Plainfield, NJ (Dante's plaza rt 22 east) has the best potato salad I've ever had. I hate the store bought vinegary-sweet kind. Her's is homemade every day just like grandma would make it. anyone else have nanny's before? or know of other places with good potato salad? How do you like your potato salad?

I turn mine into a "Loaded Baked Potato Salad"
1 part Mayo
1 part Sour Cream
Green Onions chopped (both green & white parts)
Rendered Bacon Chopped
Pickle jar juice to taste
Stone ground mustard
Diced Kosher Dill pickles
S&P

I prefer mine with salt, pepper, mayo, mustard, and egg. Love it when it's first made and nice and warm. mmmmmm

Red potatoes
Diced onion
Diced hard boiled eggs
A small amount of diced celery

Dressing
Mayo
Cider vinegar to taste
A couple tablespoons of yellow mustard
A pinch of sugar, depending on how much cider vinegar you use, be sure the potato salad DOESN’T turn out sweet
Salt and pepper
Dust the top with paprika

We are pretty much minimalists when it comes to potato salad. Nothing fancy.

Listen Llacey,

I know you are not a real person, or you're just a pathetic one.  Otherwise, you'd ask me for the recipe like normal person.  My mother just had a heart attack so I do not have time for this.   Please leave this forum or if you stick around, have some respect.  thank you.

This summer I started using "Caribe" (pronounce ca-ree-bay) purple skinned white fleshed spuds. Because they mature so early, you can make the salad with "new" potatoes for most of the summer. Caribe is hard to find except at farmers markets, or by mail order, but it is worth seeking out.

My daughter disagrees, but I like to add a bullion cube to the water when cooking the potatoes. Most of the flavor drains away when the spuds are rinsed in cold water, but I like the hint left behind.

Matt, I'm so sorry to hear this! I had Nanny's as a Facebook friend (and you, too) for a while, but had to cut out people I wasn't really talking to. And now I missed this. How's she doing?? And believe me i wanted to get up there and eat but North Jersey is like worlds away to me sometimes...

my potato salad's ingredients are almost identical to stlouisguy's, but mix it with a few finely chopped green onion, salt and pepper, mayo, and a few dashes of Steen's cane vinegar.
