I maybe wrong but, I think Costco sells Katz's (New York) pastrami. Can anyone confirm this?

Costco sells a pastrami that is labeled as Carnegie.

Ahh, thats what it was. Well, Carnegie Deli is great and, it is from NYC. I know some people prefer it to Katz's.

If the Carnegie is seving the same pastrami as that sold under its name at Costco it's hard to believe it remains in business.

One of the major improvements in retailing is more sophistication in bringing in the real thing. A more knowledgeable connected world has created that need and demand. It is harder to fake something today. Whether it is the same pastrami I have no knowledge but it is plausible now.

I wanted to try the Carnegie Deli pastrami but, I live alone and do not like to buy large (family sized) packages of anything. Do any of our posters have any experience with this Carnegie Deli pastrami from Costco?

A friend at work picked me up a package of Carnegie Deli pastrami from Costco.
Very gristly and not worth the cost. I wish I could find a place like the one that was a few blocks away when I was a kid.

I'm in the process of making my own. I started the brine last week, I had to hunt for saltpeter but found it. I may brine it for another week or two then I'll smoke it in the BGE.
I enjoy it on occasion and should go well with some homemade rye bread.

I bought the twin pack of the Carnegie pastrami from Costco and found it extremely dry and flavorless.. but when I said that on another thread many said theirs was quite good.. I guess I just got a bad batch.. I guess I prefer my pastrami fattier.. the batch I got was uber lean.

IMO one of the big problems with pastrami and corned beef that I see in the grocery store delis, whether pre-packaged or sliced to order, is what I think of as the modern food editor prescribed lean nature of the cuts of meat.
