Curious to hear your opinions.

What are some types of lunch/deli/cold cuts that you should NEVER put together?

I agree - this topic seems a bit grasping for controversy.

No but I'll tip you to a good one-Creamy Jif with a healthy sprinkle of hot red pepper flakes, thick cut bologna, thinly sliced dill pickles on lightly toasted whole wheat bread; mmmmmm.

Oh no, oh no, I got one, I got one!!!

When I was in HS I babysat a lot & this family had me take care of their kids for the weekend while they were out of town. Their 4 kids." />

The two older ones & the youngest one were no problems. The middle daughter refused to eat anything but peanut butter sandwiches.

Before she left the mother told me, "Becky has to eat what everyone else is eating, NO peanut butter sandwiches."

She ate half a grilled cheese for me, but the tuna sandwich was NOT happening. She was only 7, so she sat at the table sobbing while the other kids had gone to the park with some neighbor kids. I wasn't about to listen to her cry or make her sit there hungry, so I asked what it would take to get her to eat the sandwich.

"What about if I put a piece of cheese on it?"

*sniffle, slurp, sob* "Noooooo" *sob, sob, sniffle*

"What about if I put some peanut butter on it?"

*sniffle, sniffle* "ok" *sob, sniffle*

I have never been more disgusted in my entire life. I took the top piece of bread off, spread on the Skippy & put it back together. I had to leave the kitchen as I could not watch, but she ate the whole thing & I wiped her face & sent her off to the park.

I know peanut butter isn't really lunch meat per se, but desperate times call for desperate measures!!!

Mom went to work in the mid 70s(she was always a 'Leave it to Beaver type Mom" Nothing to eat in the house but leftover, soggy salad with Italian dressing.I put that on good bakery white bread, added peanut butter and mayonnaise. Also added leftover pot roast.Thought I had died and gone to heaven.......

Turkey and salami would be a waste of turkey as it's taste would be overwhelmed, but I can't imagine it would be awful.

But what if it were Turkey Salami.

Of course, I never buy any product where Turkey tries to be something it is not.

I have a friend who eats bologna, turkey, and pepperoni sandwiches. I'd have no problem mixing turkey with salami. It'd be a nice mix of flavors especially if it was a spicy turkey

why talk about what doesn't gp together, when there are so many great combos....regaulr school days were basic pb&j or tuna, but for field trips, my mom would go to the local deli and get me roastbeef, russian, lettuce , and tomato on a kaiser roll, a bag of wise sour cream and onion, and a 16 oz bottle of pepsi...talk about heaven!

Most of the time when I buy a variety of deli meats I'll throw them all together on one roll to make a big sandwich. ham, cheese, turkey, salami, pepperoni, lebanon bologna and whatever else there is. The more meat I have the bigger the sandwich

The more anything you have (bread, lettuce, etc.) makes it a bigger sandwich. Doesn't make it good. But, sounds like you were born for Denny's Beer Barrel Pub challenge.

That's a place that makes it and it tells you where to buy it based on the state you live in if you want to try it out. I really like it. The definition according to Wikipedia is

"Lebanon bologna is a type of semi-dry sausage similar in appearance and texture to salami, although it is somewhat darker colored. Made from salted beef, it has a distinctive smoky taste, owing to the smoking process by which it is cured. It is additionally aged for at least 10 days, which generally overlaps with the smoking. Originating with the Pennsylvania Dutch, it is commonly available in South Central Pennsylvania, where it is often served as a luncheon meat. It was probably named for the Lebanon Valley of Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, wherein it is commonly produced."

I would describe Lebanon bologna as sweet and smokey. It could be considered close to a summer sausage.

Anyway, it is great with bread and butter pickels and a pretzel roll.
