Last summer vacationing in and around Asheville, I found a great ice cream place--Jack Frost Dairy Bar (homemade ice cream since 1954).
It has soft serve and regular "hard" ice cream, lots and lots of flavors, milkshakes, and a huge selection of sundaes. You can sit under the trees at picnic tables and enjoy your treat. Man, I could have spent a week at that one place.
