Baked Beans with a twist

I hope I'm not upsetting the apple cart here, but just how many threads do we need on french fries.
Yesterday a neighbor brought me a crock of her baked beans, pay back for the many loaves of bread she gets from me.
These beans were outstanding. Made useing red kidney beans, maple syrup and the usuall ingrediants. But the twist was the addition of fresh chopped apples and pineapples along with some tiny pearl onions.
She also said she added Woodchuck hard cider as they were reducing.
No actuall recipe she just wings it. There was some cubbed slab bacon mixed in as well.
I enjoyed them so much that the next time I'm baking bread I will pop in a pot of beans as well. Chow Jim

Jimbo-----when I get back to lovely Florida next week I will try your recipe----it will be like cooking up one of my mother's----no amounts of anything----just a little of this and a pinch of that and Voila it comes out great. Bon Appetit............
