ramen flavor packets

Is there anywhere that you can just buy the flavor packets? My husband can't wont eat his ramen w/o two chicken packets and he won't eat the ramen. So were wasting a bag of ramen. granded they're only 16 cents, it would be nice to be able to but just the ramen.

I don't know where to get them (Ramen website?) but maybe you can use the extra noodles in another way. Pasta saled? Stir fry? etc.

Forget the Ramen packages...mix together a dry onion soup mix envelope, a dry veggie soup mix and two or three chicken bullion cubes (smushed up) brew it like tea and he will drink it like it was Bourbon!! Much cheaper than those expensive () packages

Al, that is the funniest post that you have made, EVER!

Deception is the ticket here. Make him think there are two packets in the Ramen. Obviously, it is the salt he likes...do one packet and add a teaspoon of salt. Problem solved.

My first thought was to 1) keep the opened packets as evidence if needed 2) add a smushed up chicken/vegetable/beef bouillon cube to his serving 3) show him two empty packets.

You are buying the wrong Ramen Noodles. Some come with up to 3 flavor packets. At this site you can find reviews and the ammount of packets supplied. I remember when living in San Diego some even came with a flavored oil pack. Go to your local oriental market and try something different. Make sure you click on the pics.

I have had to reduce some salt in my diet, so instead of using the packets that come with them, I go to my local Korean store and buy jars of Rice Seasoning. They still aren't the best in the sodium department, but there are well over 30 varities to check out. I also sometimes put in a couple drops of sesame oil in the soup which is yummy. Good luck!

Ok & quick question, where do I get the nutritional info for just the brick o noodles WITHOUT the seasoning packet?

Same here! I have a whole bunch o extra packets due to the fact that I have only used the noodles on a number of occasions just for other recipes or pasta salads.

I still eat them myself and add some bouillon to them to flavor them up a little more. My favorite though is to just add some low sodium soy sauce to the contents. To each his own as I do like them.

If you have a Big Lots in the area some have a fairly complete spice section.  Itd an off brand but halfway decent.  Along with the herbs and spices they have a decent powdered chicken and beef  bullion.  At 22 a buck you cnat beat it.  Its proably better than the ramen seasoning unless you are going for a different flavor
 

If you can find it, Herb Ox used to sell a small box of chicken broth packets, about 6-8 to a box,  that, and a little dried parsley for effect, is probably all you need. 

buy some powdered chicken bouillon and you're basically there. Some dry parsley and powdered onion, maybe? But, it's the bouillon that will provide the flavor he's looking for.

...Also, based on his tastes, you can stop taking those cooking classes, he's not noticing

They still do, but it's sodium free. I use them for my ramen. I give the packets to someone at work who can have mroe sodium than I can.

They might still make it, I just have not seen it.
 
I know Aldi's & Walgreens both have in their spice section beef & chicken bouillion powder in the shakers like cinnamon. We used to use this on our dog's food when he was sick, make a little gravy & pour it over.

I have completely forgotten about Herb Ox-i loved the chicken with the parsley...reminds me of ice skating as a kid-everyone else had hot chocolate, but I had hot Herb Ox!!!

Annie, the Sentry stores around here might have it too.

I give the flavor packets to my roommate to use, she puts them in everything (yuck). I use just the noodles for things like stir fry and Thai beef soup.

I don't think I'll ever be able to eat ramen with the flavor packet after my last bout with the flu. I'll leave it to your imaginations as to why.
