During our summer father/son/grandson fishing trip in Cypremort Point, south LA, we didn't do well on redfish or specks, but caught several nice croaker. I'm assuming this is the fish y'all are speaking of. I believe they are in the drum family (as are redfish and black drum, both favorites of mine.) While somewhat on the small size, the fillets are, in my opinion, just as good as redfish. I especially like them pan "bronzed" with a little worchesterchire (sp?) and garlic/butter sauce.
