This post can be titled, "Looks Can Be Deceiving". For the past couple, 2, tree years I have been working in Marlborough, I have never considered Coral Seafood
for my dining pleasure. I mean, look at the place. It could be a Five Guys or a Panera Bread. And you know all the wait staff look sleek in their black outfits, and the overpriced food will be poorly prepared.
I am please to say that I was wrrrrr, wrrrooooo, mistaken
. I was in the mood for oysters and I checked Coral seafoods website, it impressed me.
But first, the wine list. Very nice selection at very fair prices. In fact, if I was going to bring a bottle of wine to enjoy with oysters, it would be Dr. Loosen Riesling. At Coral $6.00 per glass, cheap.
The oyster were Malpeque
from Prince Edward Island(not the guy in the can). They were medium to large in size and $20 per dozen. The only word for these guys is fabulous.
I had the fish gumbo which was good, and the Rhode Island calamari(Appetizer portion) which was excellent. Tender, fresh calamari, lightly floured and fried, then mixed with pickled cherry peppers. Be sure to remember the Pepcid
So, never judge a book by its cover(The Ancient Mariner taught me that one. He said he just made it up). My next trip to Coral will be for more oysters and some Maine lobster. Lazy Man style though. Us NEPA'ers have no patience
