I just use a super-moist, milk chocolate, boxed cake mix and mix according to directions. Then I divide the mixture in half and bake it in one of those Duncan Hines Tiara Dessert pans. You have to adjust the baking time because the pan is pretty thin.
Soften a gallon of chocolate chip ice cream, press into two 8" cake pans that have been lined with cling wrap, and freeze until firm.
When you flip the cake from the pan, it has a well in it that the ice cream fits into. Then I just melt a Hershey's candy bar and drizzle.
One of these day I'm going to try making the cake mix from scratch, but it seems that I just never have time.
